The objective of this report is to familiarize students with mechanics, nature, challenges and
opportunities of banking sectors around the globe and evaluating the financial performance of
specific banks in respective markets (UAE).
Students can find relevant information on the internet, annual reports, TV, radio, newspapers,
magazines, and personal interviews with knowledgeable experts. Particularly, for evaluating the
performance of banks, students need to collect data from the financial statements of the banks.
They can find that information from the bank’s annual reports and bank’s website.
Note that this is a group project and each member of the group is expected to make equal
contributions to the project.
2. Bank Analysis:
Analysis one of the country’s biggest bank by comment on the various types of business
loans they offer and calculate most of the following ratios for the bank and its main
competitor for 2017-2018:
1. Tier 1 capital ratio
2. Total capital ratio
3. Equity ratio
4. Loan loss reserve ratio
5. Nonperforming loan ratio
6. Return on average assets
7. Return on average equity
8. Net loan ratio

A. Project Structure:
It is recommended that your project report have the following structure in the order provided
here.
1. Title page
The students’ details should be filled in the cover letter provided.
2. Abstract / Executive Summary
The Abstract consists of the project title and about half a page concise summary containing
the scope and results of your study.
3. Acknowledgements
In this part, you award thanks to those who have been of useful assistance during your
project.
4. Table of Contents
Table of contents should contain titles and page numbers for the main sections and
subsections of your report. The table of contents should also include entries for any
appendices in your report.
5. Report Body
This is the central and main part of the project which contains the actual work done during
the project. The main requirement is that you need to structure the report so that it is clear
and structured in a way that makes sense. Grammar and spellings count.
6. Conclusions
The project's conclusions should list the things which have been learnt as a result of the
work you have done.

8. References
You are responsible for appropriately citing material and methods that you use. Give
references for the data collected from a text book, a magazine or a website identifying its
sources while using the appropriate form. In the references section, references should be in
a numbered list, ordered alphabetically by the last name of the first author.
This project is due on the last day of the class; a group of FIVE can work as a team to finish
this project. The group has the responsibility to distribute the work evenly among the team.
The report should at least be 15 pages and should be uploaded using the model before the due
date.
Project presentation dates is: Last week / week 15 (May 18th / 2020).
Late Submission Instructions
Late Submission Instructions:
All students must comply with the submission deadlines. In case of Late Submission, the
following rules apply:
If students missed deadline by 1 week, the assigned grade is by reduced by 5%
If students missed deadline by 2 week, the assigned grade is by reduced by 10%
If students missed deadline by 3 week, the assignment will not be marked and a 0

In addition to the hard copy, students are required to submit the report in soft copy also
through the TurnIt-In system which is available online at https://lms.ectmoodle.ae
Every student must have a TurnIt-In account. High “Similarity Index” will result in low
marks for the report.
