Theme III: Ethics and Professionalization

3.2 Career Paths

To show my career path and goals for college, I put together a flyer laying out each and

every step I have taken to achieve them. While growing up, education had always been an

impactful part of my life, whether that be playing teacher with my younger sisters, other

volunteer teacher experiences, or simply just observing my teacher in my classroom. Since I can

remember, I have taken every opportunity I could to teach others such as helping other students

in the classroom or in the children's department of my church (Evidence 3.2.1). I have always

known I would excel in the teaching environment, as my personality reflects that of an

entertainer and extrovert meaning that I am exceptional at talking in front of crowds and get my

energy off of interactions with people (Evidence 3.2.2). This would help me in the classroom

immensly as I predict that I will be able to get the attention of the students easily and be able to

give them all my energy and attention to ensure the best education they can recieve. Throughout

high school, I decided to take different classes that would benefit me as I started my journey to

college and the workforce. I took classes such as AP Seminar and Language, advanced math

classes a year above my grade level, along with classes such as Sociology and Psychology that

would assist me in the classroom setting when dealing with behavior and development (Evidence

3.2.3). This flyer helped me to be more organized as I began my journey to my future. I also

participated in Teacher Academy, which allowed hands on classroom experience in different

classroom settings that I showed interest in. When I went into a fifth grade classroom, I was able

to grade assignments and work one on one with students. Within this placement, I was able to

acknowledge that fifth grade was not the perfect fit for me and I would enjoy a higher grade
more. Through Teacher Academy I was giving the opportunity to work in an advanced 8th grade

math class and I fell in love with that environment. With that knowledge in mind, after assessing

my options of degrees and majors through the Ohio License Document (Evidence 3.2.4) and

talking with my college of choice, I will work to get my teacher's license in Mathmatics

Education for grades 7-12.

I was introduced to Cedarville University at a young age as both my parents graduated

from there and I fell in love with the campus immediately. As I grew up, I did take the time to

visit other campuses such as Taylor University, and Indiana Weslyann, however after much

diliberation, in the fall of 2020 I will be continuing my education at Cedarville University with

the goal to earn a Mathmatics Education major with a minor in bible.
