Title of Artifact: Educational Philosophy Statement

Explain why you chose this artifact as your best

representation of this particular INTASC standard.

The philosophy assignment allowed me to research different philosophies

from the past and also talk with some of my own teachers about their
educational philosophy statements. By asking several different teachers I
was already familiar with, I was able to view many different perspectives
and plans on how to run a classroom. Having a philosophy statement for
education allows you to have a plan of action and know what your purpose
is for your classroom. As I prepare to become an elementary teacher,
knowing and developing a philosophy statement will be incredibly important
so that I know what I want to achieve with my students.
Reflection:

Learning about different educational philosophies is very beneficial to me as

I work towards becoming a teacher. Without a strong philosophy statement,
it would be much harder to have a set plan of action for the students in your
classroom. After completing this assignment, I was much more aware of
different philosophies and why having a philosophy is so important. I also
learned that after teaching for numerous years, your initial educational
philosophy could change. Completing this assignment allowed me to begin
thinking about my own educational philosophy statement, which is
incredibly important for me to start as I work towards becoming a teacher.
