Summative Assessment
The scoring guide that is being utilized in the fourth day of the unit is a rubric to
determine how well students are able to demonstrate their addition and subtraction fluency by
using the different strategies that were introduced and practiced. This assessment is taking place
after the students have been able to engage in addition and subtraction activities within their
centers. The centers allowed the students to use these different strategies to become more fluent
with them. The students are engaging in a plickers assessment following the centers. The teacher
candidate is using her device to scan all of the students answers throughout this assessment. The
questions and possible answers are presented on the Smartboard for the class to see and analyze.
The students are being asked to answer both addition and subtraction equations within 20. The
students are also being asked to use three different strategies and then are able to have a free
choice in what strategy that they use for the second to last question. A differentiated scoring
guide was made for the students who are on IEP’s as they were working to be able to solve
problems within ten and not twenty. After engaging in the summative assessment, the students
will complete these scoring guides. The students will fill the boxes in and be able to write any
