Greetings,

Welcome! This online class was created in response to the need of continuing education despite the
adversity that the world is currently facing. In order for us to make this online class effective and worthwhile
we need to follow these simple guidelines to help us in incorporating this platform (Canvas) in our subject
which is Mechanics of Deformable Bodies.

1. Attendance is a must!

-Attendance is checked EVERYDAY as instructed by the school and our schedule starts at 1:00 pm and
ends at 5:00 pm. Attendance will be checked randomly in between those two times therefore you are
required to be present in the said time period.

2. There would be assigned “days” for each activity that would occur. The Professor (instructor) would
announce the schedule for each day beforehand. If not announced, expect an activity/plate to be given.

“DAYS”

2.1. LECTURE DAY – In this day, handouts would be uploaded and various references would also be given.

Students’ Task: The students are tasked to view and understand the given lesson. It could be in the form of
handouts, books, video clips, Powerpoint Presentations, voice recordings and other lecture type form of
instruction. In this time, the students are required to take notes and list down questions and queries that may
arise during the lecture. These questions and queries would be addressed in the DISCUSSION DAY part of
the course. The questions would be submitted at the last few minutes of the LECTURE DAY and would be
collected by The Professor. If there are no questions submitted, it is assumed that the student has fully
understood the content of the given topic and it would be therefore followed by either a PLATE/PS DAY or a
QUIZ DAY.

Student Output: Word Document file indicating all questions and queries garnered in the LECTURE DAY.

2.2. DISCUSSION DAY – In this day, the questions and queries collected by The Professor from the
students in the DISCUSSION day would be answered accordingly, repeated questions would be addressed
at the same time. Furthermore, if new questions arise during the discussion, if time permits, The Professor
would also address them.DISCUSSION DAY may also be conducted after each QUIZ DAY to answer the
problems given in the quiz especially if majority of the students were not able to pass the quiz.

2.3. PLATE/PS DAY – In this day, students are tasked to answer a series of problems. It may be in the form
of PLATES (Type-Written Output) or an Online Seatwork (Problem Set).

Students’ Task: Answer the given problems.

Students’ Output:In the PLATES mode, outputs would in pdf format and would be submitted through Canvas
and graded using a rubric (see Rubric for plates). For PS mode, answers would be inputted in a google form
in which scores given accordingly based on the student’s answers.

2.4. QUIZ DAY – In this day, students would be assigned quizzes to be answered within the given time
period.

Students’ Task:Take and finish the quiz given.

Students’ Output: Quizzes have their own set of instructions but may be similar to PS mode of PLATES/PS
DAY. Furthermore, quizzes are graded based on a rubric (see rubric for quizzes).

3. Submissions have a given deadline. Failure to submit on time would incur deductions (40% of maximum
score). Failure to submit at all, Two (2) days after the given deadline, the submission would not be accepted
anymore and the student would receive a score of zero for that certain submission only. Submissions should
follow the given format. If none is given, submissions should be in letter size, pdf format (unless otherwise
specified), portrait orientation.
