2 Career Paths

1.1.2 Identify the scope of career opportunities and the requirements

for education, training, certification, licensure and experiences

As a current High School senior, there are many steps that I am taking to help

me in my future career. First I have taken the ACT and I have sent my score to four

colleges: Kent State University, Ohio University, Miami University at Oxford, and

University of Cincinnati. I have already visited Ohio University and I have two planned

visit days for Kent State University and University of Cincinnati. I will also apply to each

of the four colleges by November 1st. Currently I am working on finishing the common

app, I have written my college application essay and have completed my teacher

recommendations. On my resume (3.2.1) I have listed classes I have taken in High

School that will help my future career in Education. Classes that include Teachers

Academy, AP US History, AP Government and Politics, AP Psychology, AP Spanish,

and AP World History. Also I am part of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor

Society and Spanish Club at my high school.

Once I am enrolled in college for an education major. I plan on obtaining a

Resident Educator License (3.2.2). I would either obtain a K-3 licensure or a

Postsecondary Degree to teach a middle school history class. While in college I would

like to do student teaching in a suburban area because a suburban area is my desired

area for my future career in teaching.

After Graduating I would either teach K-3 or a 6-8 History class. After being a

teacher for a few years I will go back and obtain my masters degree in education. First I
would look at the programs offered in my district that help teachers go back to college

and obtain their masters degree. This process was discussed by current teachers on

the teacher panel (3.2.3). Teachers took advantage of what their district had to offer and

go back to get their master's degree in education.

Like I have previously stated I would like to teach either K-3 or a middle school

history class. I would prefer to teach in a suburban school district. Also from personality

test (3.2.4) it has shown that I am a good listener, sensitive to others, and imaginative.

Which can help me in the classroom to listen and understand the needs of children in

my classroom and make lesson plans creative and fun to help the child retain the

information.
