Two strokes have more power generation overall if the engine is the same cc size and the
four stroke has more torque because it is a more wound up motor. The reason for this would be
that the two stroke has a powerband that activates when the power value opens up and it is in the
name of what it does because one the power value is active then motor is freed up to generate
that last bit of power that beats the four stroke in testing and application and use. Four strokes
have more torque, but the same amount of torque necessary can be applied to the two strokes
given enough momentum and clutch control in order to properly execute what is needed in
testing and recreational use. Most four strokes nowadays all come with fuel injection and only
recently do some 2 strokes come with it but the effects of not having a carburetor are evident. An
example would be the fact that with fuel injection it all relies on electronics and not mechanics
like a carburetor does. This is an issue with modern machinery switching to electronics because
the only way to fix them is to get a specialist or replace the part as to back in the old days it was
all mechanical and self-explanatory and could be repaired by anyone for much cheaper. If a spec
of dirt where to get pass the fuel filter and into the fuel injection system then it would lock up
and shut the motor down compared to a carburetor where it would get thrown out the exhaust if it
Discussion
The fuel consumption and fuel efficiency tests of motors to try and find the most efficient
one and to use new tech to make it even more efficient and long lasting. The engine that was
chosen was the 2-stroke engine which shows that it can be “more efficient than the four-stroke
competitor if you add modifications” (Zhang 3). Controlled Auto Ignition was used to help the

fuel efficiency and the results of it on a two stroke crush scores of a four stroke and showcase
that in certain circumstances that the two stroke releases less emissions and uses less fuel. This is
just another reason to add to the durability and reliability of the two-cycle motor that is “such a
simple yet complex design” (Zhang 8) that it is more efficient than its complicated and expensive
It starts with the first cycle of the piston moving to the bottom of the cylinder which lets
in the air and gas at the right moment and the momentum from the previous combustion cycle
and it carries the piston back up to the cylinder head where the spark plug is fired when a small
explosion occurs which drives the piston back down and then creating a cycle that repeats itself
and lets the exhaust go out of the head through the exhaust as the piston moves back down to the
bottom of the cylinder head. It has 4 cycles that start with a first one being the adding of fuel and
air and the second being the compressing of all these things towards the cylinder head and spark
plug and then the third cycle is the explosion that keeps the piston moving this whole time and
then the forth would be when the piston is exploded downward and it leaves an opening for the
exhaust port to open and release the exhaust through the smaller pipes and then the 4 cycles are
complete and they keep repeating themselves till the motor dies. The 2 stroke uses these same
principles but has the 1st and 2nd of this cycle put into its one first cycle and then the final two
cycles of this into its one final stroke. The engine that was chosen was the 2-stroke engine which
shows that it can be more efficient than the four-stroke competitor if you add modifications.

reliability of the two-cycle motor that is such a simple yet complex design that it is more efficient
than its complicated and expensive counterpart the four cycle. Overall in general use, “four
stroke engines get to higher temperatures than two strokes” (Kazimierski 2), but also the two
engines can be pressed to limits in sandy conditions with a person not shifting or using the motor
properly which in turn could cause the motor to seize from the heat and friction of high revs in
sand. Many four stroke engines today come with fans on the radiator to try and help the coolant
to cool down faster before it goes back through the cylinder “to help cool the motor because they
are generally more heated motors” (Kazimierski 5) with the four cycles.
