INTERVIEW PREP 1 GUIDE

The following is intended as a guide to be prepared for typical interview questions. The idea is to write in
note form or bullet points not complete sentences

1 KNOWLEDGE (WHAT AND WHY?)

SKILLS
Pull out skills and qualifications from a typical job posting and match to your own skills.
Add in any information you’ve gleaned from your research and other interviews.
Watch for:
√ Business Analyst Terminology
√ Tools and Technologies
√ Soft skills that may be buried or implied.

2 BEHAVIOUR (HOW)
RELEVANT PROJECT EXPERIENCES
Identify experiences from your career background that will showcase you using the skills and experienc-
es you listed above.
CHALLENGES? SOLUTIONS? SUCCESSES?
Real-life examples of how you turned a problem into a solution

3 ABOUT YOU
Most interviews start with this and most interviewees are unprepared to answer it. E.g. passions,
weaknesses, accomplishments, 5-year goals.

4 QUESTIONS
Business analysts are judged just as much by their questions as their answers. Questions also allow you
to demonstrate what you know about the company or role? What questions will you ask?
