Mastering the Handshake

The Pull-In

• This is a somewhat manipulative handshake.

• If the organizations goals conflict with this persons goals, there will be a problem.

The Two Hand shake

• The higher the left hand, the greater the manipulation and control.

• This is a favorite handshake of politicians, because it implies a quick sincerity and

intimacy.

• This person is trying to sell you something that is not really there

The Topper Hand shake

• The dominant party in this handshake is palm facing down. Like a winner of a wrestling
match, the hand on the top is clearly in control.

• This handshake says, “I’m in charge, I’m the Boss.” It tends to be the handshake of
the conventional boss or manager who manages through control.

The Finger Squeeze

• Used to keep someone at a comfortable distance. This kind of handshake will hurt your
hand.

• This is a very insecure person who equates brute strength with personal power. They
use their hands as weapons to dominate and overpower people.

The Bone Crusher

The Palm Pinch

• Usually given by a woman who hasn’t learned how to shake hands properly or has a
fear of intimacy.

• This person will tend not to be very good at interpersonal skills.

The Limp

• Tends to drain you energy.

• This person tends to be somewhat passive or apathetic.

• This type will usually be better with computers, machines and information than with
people.

• The limp fish probably won’t have the energy and interest necessary to be in a
managerial position.

The Proper Hand Shake

• Firm, but not bone-crushing

• Lasts about 3 seconds

• May be "pumped" once or twice from the elbow

• Is released after the shake,

• Includes good eye contact with the other person

Self Confidence

Dress Sharp

• Clothes certainly affect the way a person feels about him/herself. When you don’t look
good, it changes the way you carry yourself and interact with other people.

• Significant improvements can be made by bathing grooming and shaving frequently &
wearing clean clothes.

Walk Faster

• One of the easiest ways to tell how a person feels is to examine his/her walk. Is it
slow? tired? painful? Or is it energetic and purposeful? People with confidence walk
quickly.

• Even if you aren’t in a hurry, walking 25% faster will make to you look and feel more
important.

Good Posture

• People with slumped shoulders and lethargic movements display a lack of self
confidence.

• They aren’t enthusiastic about what they’re doing and they don’t consider themselves
important. By practicing good posture, you’ll automatically feel more confident.

• Stand up straight, keep your head up, and make eye contact. You’ll make a positive
impression on others and instantly feel more alert and empowered.

Sit in the front row

• Most people prefer the back because they’re afraid of being noticed & shows a lack of
self confidence. If you sit in the front row, you can get over this irrational fear and
build your self confidence.

• You’ll also be more visible to the important people talking from the front of the room.

Speak up

• During group discussions many people never speak up because they’re afraid that
people will judge them for saying something stupid. This fear isn’t really justified. In
fact most people have the same fears.

• Speak up at least 2 to 3 times in every group discussion, you’ll become a better public
speaker, more confident in your own thoughts, and recognized as a leader.

Shortcomings in the Candidates

• INTERPERSONAL SKILLS – TEAM WORK

• COMMUNICATION ISSUES

• ATTITUDINAL IMPERATIVES

• VARIOUS KIND OF COMPLEXES

• NERVOUSNESS – LACK OF PREPARATION

• LACK OF SELF CONFIDENCE
