Companies connect around the world thanks to the BIM methodology

Implement tools such as BIM 360 Docs (construction documentation management, plans and

models) and BIM 360 Team (real-time collaboration of Revit models in different locations). It

represents a great advantage for subcontractors and consultants, who can understand in greater

detail what is required during the execution of work.

One of the current needs of companies is to increase productivity, facing the challenge of

spending less resources and connecting their workers in various regions of the world. A clear

example of the above is the Mexican company Hermosillo, which with more than 50 years in the

design and construction industry, was able to interconnect all its multidisciplinary teams with

New Zealand and the United States thanks to the BIM methodology.

“Increasing productivity in projects helps smart decision making, representing significant

savings in the amount of coordination errors, in the lack of information and full control over

expenses. With Hermosillo it was evident that the teams are better connected and working in an

effectively coordinated way,” said Julio Palma, technical sales specialist at Autodesk for Latin

America.

The compatibility and interoperability of Autodesk solutions allow projects like this to have a

continuous flow of information and comprehensive collaboration. The BIM methodology applied

to projects is reflected in the efficiency and quality of the work, as in the case of this company,

which achieved a reduction of up to 50% in document review times and a 95% reduction in

Interferences found and resolved on site. In addition, the visualization of the project offered by

BIM 360 helps in the conceptualization of the clients' vision, increasing the competitive

advantages over the competition.

The company that used this tool specializes in projects characterized by being design / build and

fast track, which translates into Design and Simultaneous Construction projects. Furthermore,

75% of its projects are Industrial in the Automotive, Pulp & Paper, Food & Beverage, Medical

Equipment, Manufacturing and Aerospace sectors. It has been presented for two consecutive

years at Autodesk University with collaborative work in the cloud and project control

developments and in 2015 it was recognized with the award in the Most Innovative

Implementation category by iTWO WORLD.

Thanks to these advances, it is evident that BIM as a concept goes far beyond a software or a

model, it is a culture of collaboration that seeks to eliminate the isolated work of each of the

disciplines contemplated in the development of a project. These tools allow real collaboration

between all members and the connection of their data, contributing to the optimization and

digitization of the industry to meet global needs.

Análisis

El articulo nos da a conocer la gran importancia de este software llamado BIM que nos

permite la modelación tridimensional para la ejecución de construcciones, modelaciones, planos,

costos de un proyecto donde ofrece una gran ventaja para los subcontratistas y consultores, que

pueden comprender con mayor detalle lo que se requiere durante la ejecución de obra.

Este cumple con todas las necesidades que pueda tener el proyecto para disminuir la

pérdida de tiempo y recursos en el diseño y la construcción, donde mitiga la cantidad de errores y

coordinación. El aumento de la productividad en los proyectos ayuda a la toma de decisiones

inteligentes y que permite administrar el ciclo de vida de los proyectos, trabajando de manera

colaborativa y concurrente.

Alguna adversidad o desventaja que puede tener en cuenta es que debemos comentar,

como la necesidad de aprendizaje y formación que requiere para los estudiantes y para los

trabajadores o empresas para este tipo de programas este requisito formativo es una desventaja

porque no todo el mercado está preparado para adoptar BIM y herramientas como Autodesk

Revit que hacen uso de esta plataforma y este sistema.

Hasta que el mercado no se prepare y de el paso a lo digital y al uso de BIM, su

integración no será total donde seguiremos viendo empresas con diferentes metodologías y

diferentes sistemas que no llegan a implantar ninguno como el básico o el principal y que no

aprovechan las ventajas y los aspectos positivos que nos ofrece BIM
