To Whom It May Concern,

It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Brooks Emerson. He is a student in the
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at NC State that I have had the pleasure of knowing
since January of 2018. I first met Brooks as a student in my freshman seminar class. With a class of
about 50 students, I can tell you that he participated, engaged in opportunities outside of the
classroom, and invested time to get to know his peers.

Brooks was admitted to the NCSU Ag Business Management program for the spring 2018 semester.
As a part of the freshman seminar class, Brooks was encouraged to think about his student success
plan. This involved identifying classes, clubs and organizations, study abroad programs, internships,
and undergraduate research opportunities. Watching students explore options and possibilities is a
neat thing. I am happy to report that after his first semester, Brooks added a Crop Science minor,
joined the NCSU Ducks Unlimited Association, and participated in Intramural softball and
basketball. Each of these, both academic and extracurricular experiences, have helped him develop
as a college student. He also enjoys Wolfpack athletics, and is proud to be a part of the sea of red
cheering on the Pack.

I know Brooks also works full time in the summer for a Regional Seed Company, "locally owned, but
nationally aligned" with the AgVenture Brand. AgVenture is the largest network of independently
owned seed companies in the nation, offering a full line of corn, soybeans, and cover crops. His
responsibilities include delivering seed, planting and harvesting plots, and participating in field days
(some of which are sponsored by NCSU Extension programs). He has been attending the NC
Seedmen's association since his childhood days, from kids' activities to meetings. This allowed him
to listen, learn and gain a better understanding of the associations and their commitment to
farmers of North Carolina.

Please accept my recommendation for Brooks Emerson as a candidate for the NC Soybean
Association Scholarship. I have enjoyed getting to know him and look forward to hearing about his
future success.

Sincerely,
