To the North Carolina Soybean Producers Scholarship Committee:

It is my pleasure to write this recommendation in support of Brooks Emerson’s application for the
North Carolina Soybean Producers Scholarship program. I have been Brooks’ adviser for one year at
North Carolina State University in the Agricultural and Resource Economics Department.

Brooks has a strong interest in NC soybean production, as evidenced by his summer employment
with Sweet Water Creek Seeds. In this capacity, he worked with soybeans over a four year
period and has been offered a position with this business following graduation. He has also
attended the NC Seedsmen’s association meetings during his work with Sweet Water Creek
Seeds in addition to working with farmers, planning and harvesting plots, and attending field
days.

In closing, Brooks is strongly committed to pursuing agricultural interests as a career and his
employment with a seed company makes him an excellent candidate for this scholarship. I give him
my recommendation for this scholarship.
