THE INFLUENCE OF TOOTH BRUSH HEALTH PROMOTION THROUGH ANIMATION
VIDEO MEDIA ON IMPROVING KNOWLEDGE ABOUT DENTAL CARIES IN PRESCHOOL
CHILDREN OF TK B PLUS AL-KHAROMAH

Abstrack:

Dental caries is a health problem in children, where the incidence of dental caries is 50 -90%
(World Health Organization 2017). The percentage of problems teeth and mouth in west java as
high at 45,7%, the percentage was beyond the percentage of the national 45,3%. And in the
cimahi city of dental caries scene a higher amount of 61%. This is due to lack of children’s
knowledge who are lazy to brush their teeth. One effort to increase children's knowledge is by
promoting health. Health promotion in the form of animated video media is more appropriate to
use because it will be clearer, more complete, and attract the attention of children.
Aims :
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of video animation on increasing
knowledge about dental caries in preschool children in TK B Al-Kharomah, South Cimahi.
Method :
This research method is a pre-experimental design with One Group pretest posttest. Data
analysis uses Univariate and Bivariate. Research location in TK Plus Al-Kharomah South
Cimahi. The study was conducted with a population of 22 respondents at Kindergarten B Al-
Kharomah. The sampling technique used is total sampling.

Conclusion :
The results obtained 72.7% of respondents who are well knowledgeed and 27.3% of
respondents who have enough knowledge. After the t test was carried out with the results of p
value = 0.000 (p> 0.05) thus Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Which means that there is
an influence with animated video media about increasing dental caries knowledge in preschool
children in kindergarten B. Suggestions for schools are suggested for teachers in schools to be
able to demonstrate how to brush their teeth properly and correctly every 6 months.
