Sibelius: How to…

Add a note:

 Press escape to make sure the mouse is white


 Click a note on the keypad
 Click on stave
 If the note doesn’t appear in the bar it means it doesn’t fit – try another note!

Change a note:

 Press escape to make sure the mouse is white


 Click on a note (it then turns blue)
 Press on the up arrow or down arrow

Delete a note:

 Press escape to make sure the mouse is white


 Click on a note (it then turns blue)
 Click on ‘delete’

Undo:

 Control and Z

Remember!

The mouse has two colours:

 If it is blue – it is in ‘writing’ mode; click on the music and it’ll write a note
 If it is white – it is a ‘hand’ tool; you can drag and select things
 If your mouse is blue but you want it white – click escape
 If your mouse is white but you want it blue – click on a note in the keypad

Shortcuts:

 Click on a bar and press R – it will copy what you have in one bar into the next bar
 Use the keyboard on the computer to write in your letters – ‘a, b, c, d, e, f or g’
 Use the number pad on the computer to select your rhythm
 Play = P, stop = Escape and rewind = { (just to the right of ‘p’ on the keyboard)
