Introduction
The front of the missile contains the guidance system, composed of either a radar
system, an electro-optical or infrared detector. The next part typically contains the warheads,
usually in the center of the racket, containing a greater mass of explosives, surrounded by
metal shavings scraped for stronger target damage. Obviously, in the back of the rocket
propulsion system with its own control system. Most rocket use rocket engines with solid fuel
, but some long-range missiles use engines with liquid which gives them fuel storage capacity
to execute certain final maneuvers before striking down the target or to position itself on the
best path for striking down the target.
The main research studies regarding to the body design of MIM-23 Hawk. The
Raytheon MIM-23 Hawk is American medium-range surface-to-air missile. It was design to
be a much more mobile counterpart to the MIM-14 Nike Hercules, Trading off range altitude
capability for a much smaller size and weight. Its low-level performance was greatly
improved over Nike through the adoption of new radar and a continuous wave semi-active
radar homing guidance system. Hawk was originally intended to attack aircraft, especially
those flying at medium and low altitudes. It entered service with the army in this role 1959.
Objective
1. To study about typical values of missile parameter and the characteristic of current
operational missiles.
2. To understand the system engineering process for missiles especially in the design
of body missile.
4. To study the type of material used in missile body and their compartment.
5. To study the parameter needs to be consider during the design of missile body
