How does the use of renewable non-conventional energies influence the care of the
environment?

The use of non-conventional renewable energy reduces the environmental impact generated by
the use of non-renewable energy that uses fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas; that generate
emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur, or that generate climate change. Climate change is caused by
increased concentrations of greenhouse gases, especially CO2, caused by the use of fossil fuels
mentioned above.

Renewable energies such as solar, wind, hydro, geothermal or from biomass, are those that help
preserve the environment; Since they are inexhaustible and clean sources of producing energy.
These energies can impede the accelerated process of pollution on the planet.

2. What economic benefits does the use of unconventional energy bring to a country?

They are energy sources available in our environment, they help meet the growing demand for
electrical energy in the country, which economically benefits entities or investors in types of
electricity generation project with unconventional sources such as the decrease in the declaration
of income of a 50% in the investment made in the project for up to 5 years; Thus achieving the
improvement of the financial statements of the companies that invest in this kind of projects.

Law 1715 of 2014, through which the integration of non-conventional renewable energies into the
national energy system is regulated, promotes the development and use of non-conventional
renewable energy sources; Overcoming the legal, economic and market barriers in the country,
allows the purchase of materials, equipment, consulting, execution and design of the project to be
exempt from the VAT tax, as well as exempting imports of equipment that are required for the
start in service of a project with renewable energy, reducing import costs of materials and
equipment of the project.

Also increase in the depreciation of the assets implemented in these projects, reducing in the
accounting of the companies that take advantage of unconventional energies.

All this allows economic growth, improving sustainable development and the quality of life and
social well-being, without depleting resources and deteriorating the environment.
