Lean Production Task 1

To start with lean production techniques allow business to increase the efficiency
and reduce costs
Various techniques can be used​:
● Kaizen
● Just in time
● Cell Production
Each of those techniques have different andvantages , different concepts of making
a product

Kaizen ​involves a continous improvement in production ,involves different workers


form different sigments working together to improve efficiency and make changes .

Advantages​ of choosing Kaizen​:


● Helps to reduce waste and improve efficiency because workers will be constatly
reacting to problems within production and making changes
● Employees will be motivated because they are involved in decison making,this
motivation will make them work harder and produce better quality products.
● Easier to make changes that come from workers ,because whne just problems occur
employees can imidiately see them and make a difference

Just in time ​means that stock arrives before it is just needed by this it reduces the amount
of stock that is held ,which ccan be really costly for the business

Advantages ​of just in time:


● Reduces the costs for holding the stock
● A faster turnaround of stok prevents goods becoming damaged or obsolete while
sitting in the strorage
● Can build a good relationshp with supplier which can guarantee them possible
discounts and etc.
● More space available for production

Cell production ​is when a production is split into small groups called cells .Each cell is is
responsible for a complete union of work,work is done in terms.

Advantages​:
● Stability of the team improves communication between the cell members
● Staff feel more involved in decision making ,resulting in in greater job satisfaction
● Workers become multi skilled and consequently more more adapteble and flexible
● Quality improves because each cell has ownership over production and usually aim
for zero defects .

What is flow production ?


Flow production​ involves a continuous movement of items through the ​production
process. This means that when one task is finished the next task must start
immediately.

State one advantage of flow production ?


Flow production​ is capital intensive. This means it uses a high proportion of
machinery in relation to workers The ​advantage​ of this is that a high number of
products can roll off assembly lines at very low cost.
