Executive Summary

Internship is an important part of the BBA program and provide all students with the
opportunity to learn about the organization’s part and better their communication skills and
made a business problem more complex with time as a result of success in the world.
Students are actually gain many benefits through this practical knowledge. Not only is this
internship helpful in generating this report, it also provides general information about education
businesses, and also give us the information which we have not learned in theory books.
During internship I got that whatever we have learned in my theory books everything is
different from practical knowledge.
During internship I personally feel that when you are working practically so your mind starts
thinking new things new innovation, deeply and broadly. In the modern age I personally feel
that the surviving of that life is very difficult task to handle for individual. I feel that the purpose
of bank of Punjab is to provide the big opportunity for students to learn about bank how the
bank works.
During my six-week internship I will do my best to make a good report to bank of Punjab by
putting all practical work which I have learned from bank of Punjab. I hope my efforts and my
interest in internship will be more positive and can evaluate me in positive way.
Background of host organization

The first branch of bank of Punjab was established in Lahore on November 15, 1989. In our
country, banks have played an essential role in the national economy. Banks are like the
backbone of our country; they provide money for various sectors of the economy while keeping
our economy in development. They provide funding to the agriculture sector, which is
important to our economy so they are indirectly or directly mobilizing our resources. With the
passage of time they increase their target market, in 1994 the bank of Punjab converts into
schedule bank and opened all over the Pakistan.
Now there are two hundred and eighty branches in all over the Pakistan. An essential role is
played by bank of Punjab in the national economy via mobilized local resources and funds for
investment. Fortunately, the country's banking sector has a well-organized and properly
institutionalized system, which not only mobilizes resources for financing trade, agriculture and
industry, but also for the efficient implementation of monetary policy. The Bank of Punjab is
working as a scheduled commercial bank with its network of 241 branches at all major
business centers in the country. The Bank provides all types of banking services such as
Deposit in Local Currency, Client Deposit in Foreign Currency, Remittances, and Advances to
Business, Trade, Industry and Agriculture.

Bop is one among the largest developing banks in Pakistan. We can make an analysis, swot
analysis is basically overall check the organization strength, weakness, opportunity and thread
that overall effect the performance of the organization. By swot analyzing we can judge the
performance of the organization. The best strategy we can established by using swot analysis.
 Find the organization opportunity and strength.
 Correct the weakness of the organization
To keep in mind the context of organization mission and vision and mission statement swot
analysis help us to easily understand the internal external opportunity, threats and ability of the
organization and also asses the strength and weakness of the organization.

Strength:
 The bank of Punjab providing online banking facilities to its customer.
 Well and professional qualified staff.
 For training the bank of Punjab have training center there are different training session
are held for new and employees.
 The bank has also started atm facilities in most of the branches 24 hours banking is
now the trend in Pakistan.
 Bank is providing quick credit services to all the customers at all branches.
Weakness:
 The human resource department are not doing work properly. Selection process
is not done on merit due to that most of the competent people can’t get job in
bank of Punjab.
 To improve the service and remove the problem there is no customer complaint
department.
 The bop has very low-level staff other than upper Punjab.
 late promotion policy.

Opportunity:
 There are no foreign branches of bank of Punjab. So, it should open its
branches across the country like UK, USA.
 Government are taking a very major step to promote the IT in Pakistan. So,
bank of Punjab has an opportunity to improve IT stock exchange.
 It has an opportunity for bank of Punjab to offered financing of housing in the
urban areas.
 Hire high qualified staff directed from high good reputed institution by
conducting the seminar.
Threats:

 The banking sectors are increasing day by day so BOP has to face strong
competitors. There are many competitors who are continuously increasing their
products and services.
Marketing Strategy

BOP bank using many different types of marketing strategies in order to expand their
business. BOP bank is using the marketing mix strategy which is set of marketing tools in
order to achieve its objectives.

Product and services:

BOP has offered many new product or services to satisfy the customers. Also offered
different kind of new accounts in order to attract the customers.
1. Ahsaan Account:

Ahsaan account is usually offered to bring the middle- or lower-class people in banking
system. It is opened only on the copy of CNIC. Its limit is five lacs in a that credit or debit
not more than five lacs in a month. And debit card of twenty-five thousand limit issued in
this account.
2. Foreign currency Account:

This account is usually offered for those who send money from other country in the
account. And it takes week or more to approve from the headquarter and upload all the
required documents like NADRA verification, passport, exit or entry page print etc. No limit
fix for this account.
3. Insurance:

BOP offered insurance for those who secure or future planning for their children's. There is
policy of 25 or 50 thousand rupees which is paid every year and after ten years, bank took
two more years and then return that deposit with double.

Promotion:

“All activity that company are taking to communicate and promote its products”.

These days the competition is increasing day by day so due to that every one is facing a
pressure of competitor. The world growing competition, the only way to survive and grow is the
proper marketing and promotion of its products. In banking sector to attract the customer
through:

 sales promotion
 advertisement
 direct marketing
 public relation

price:

“The amount of money the customer pays for the products of a company”.

Bank of Punjab providing different products to its customer and get price return of products.
Product prices mean that consumers pay commissions for the services provided by the bank.
The commission for the payment of the services mainly includes:

 Markup/interest
 Bank charges
 Fees and bank commission etc.
Place:

"Activities performed by banks to make products and services readily available or accessible to
consumers."

The BOP has opened all its branches in commercial and commercial areas or nearby trading
areas so that consumers or clients will not have difficulty to communicate and reaching in the
bank.

After making the marketing mix strategy, the important factor which the organization focus is
competitive strategy.

Market penetration strategy:


In this strategy the organization consider the options that
either they get the market size or not with its current product. Also, organization always
try to become the first mover in the current market.
Market development strategy:
In this the organization try to develop their market size
that where its products or services are not available. So, they work to cover those areas
and make their services available to facilitate the customers.
Product development strategy:
Here the organization works to develop the new
products according to the needs and demands to the people. And then make sure the
availability of product in the market.
Diversification strategy:
Finally, it will review the opportunities to develop new product
for new market. Also works on selling present services to new customers and selling
more services to present customers. It is most difficult growth strategy for bank because
bank always focuses to grow new services and new market.
Business process Analysis
Bop contains eight main division of Audit and inspection recovery division which checks and
report on policies management. Finance division makes policies and defines limits of credits
which gives an essential service to bank regarding the matters of import, export, and
international trade of credit, traveler cheque etc. In general banking division of credit which is
associated with operational working develops the basis of banks. E.g. development of bank
and deposits and Human Resource Division which contains recruitment, training of staff and
evaluation of Operation Division. BOP hires best individual for organization and therefore
department of recruitment emphasizes on the quality of people. It contains CV screening and
fixed criteria evaluation. After selection and three months services probation confirmation letter
is issued by the board.

LEARNING AS A STUDENT INTERN

Duties
 ON a very first day our Manager Mr. Nasir told me about the rules and regulation of the
bank.
 After this Mr. Ahsan told me about the deposit slip. After the guide I started to fill the
deposit slip of customers.
 I learned how to transfer cash from one account to another account.
 After this Mr. Akhtar guides me about the cross check. The cross check cannot be
cashed until when you will not deposit to the customer account.
 Then I get information about the account opening department from the bank officer Mr.
Javid. After this I did perform this task and open an account of different customers.
 I learned how to check balance from account number and id card.
 Mr. Akhtar teach me that how to transfer salaries to their customer account. After this
guide he give me a salary slip of customers and asked me to transfer this salary to their
account.
 I get an information about the work of clearing Department. There are two types of
clearing.
 Inward clearing
 Outward clearing
 I also issued the check books to the customer.
 I learned about the debit and credit. I learned that the debit mean we are withdrawing a
money from the bank and credit mean we are adding a money in their account and I
fully trained how to debiting and credit from one account to another.

New knowledge acquired


 Learned about steps of production in the bank, Bill party, dealing with customers etc.
The regular interaction with my colleagues, various customers and industry experts who
has enhanced my interactive skills.
 Also learn how to close the account and if close then how to reactivate the account.
 And know about ATN number, that what benefits gives to a filer person. If a person is
filer, then he gets benefit from bank that their online transactions are free etc.
Accomplishment
During my internship I was fully trained that what is the Procedure of different accounts and
how to resolve the issue of check book. I learned that how to transfer cash from one account to
another account and I learned about the cross check that cross check cannot be cashed until
to deposit to their accounts then we cashed account. I am trained that how to tell the balance
of customer through id card or check. I am fully control on how to cross check cashed. I am
fully controlled how to salary transfer to their account. The main and final accomplishment is
the experience of 6 weeks that would be help me in my future life. Experience is the best thing
that would express your work stamina and describe your knowledge and work.

Problem encounter
I found one of the biggest issues that the employee is not cooperative. If anyone have a
problem in anything, they will not tell him exact solution. The communication is very poor. I
notice that everyone is doing their own work and they are not sharing experience to each other
and don’t care about the other people if any employee is facing a problem, they don’t concern
with them. Therefore, it is crucial for a public to maintain the environment friendly.

How experience impacts my career


I learned a lot of work during my six weeks of internship in bop. My specialization is also in
finance so it will be a great impact on my specialization. I have improved my communication
and negotiable skills due to internship. After completing my internship, it will be easy for me to
explore my option as to what type of company I would like to work for once graduated.
