What is the TOEFL TEST?

Mairon Caballero 4-774-1120

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). It is a standardized test of

English language proficiency, specifically aimed at non-native speakers of this
language. As a standard, this test is accepted by many English-speaking academic
and professional institutions around the world, in a similar way to its IELTS
counterpart. In the case of TOEFL, the scores obtained are valid for two years, 1
after which the test must be performed again to renew its validity.

The acronym "TOEFL" as a trademark belongs to the Educational Testing Service

(ETS), a non-profit organization that designs and administers the tests.

This test was originally developed at the Center for Applied Linguistics in
Washington, D.C., under the direction of linguist Dr. Charles A. Ferguson, a
professor at Stanford University.

The TOEFL is made up of four sections:

 Reading comprehension: which covers reading ability, and can last between
an hour and an hour and a half.
 Listening comprehension: which covers the ability to understand spoken
language, and which can last between an hour and an hour and the means.
 Oral section: covering the ability to communicate spoken language. This
section is not presented in all TOEFL types. This section is not implemented
in pBT mode.
 Writing section: covering writing ability. This section is not presented in all
TOEFL types, although it is presented in iBT, the most demanded.
