DLI 1.1

 NCTB is on track with the approved action plan.

Brief Update on Management Structure

Senior Management Structure:

Directorate of Primary Education, the leading implementing directorate of Fourth Primary Education
Development Program (PEDP4), is currently administered by the leadership of Mr. Sohel Ahmed, Acting
Director General (Additional Secretary). The previous Director General of DPE, Dr. Md. Abu Hena Mostofa
Kamal, ndc has been appointed as Secretary of Cultural Affairs Ministry on 20th January 2019. Meanwhile,
Dr A F M Manjur Kadir, Additional Secretary to the Government, has been designated as the next Director
General of DPE.

The senior management structure of DPE has been strengthened with a timely addition of post of
Additional Director General (ADG). Md. Abdul Mannan has been appointed as the ADG (PEDP4) on 11
November 2018 to support the successful implementation of the PEDP4 activities under the leadership of
DG, DPE.

ADG Office Management Structure:

The ADG office of PEDP4 has been assigned to support the implementation activities and coordinate
among all the relevant line divisions and other implementing agencies. Following are the positions
placed in the ADG office: 1 Deputy Director, 2 Assistant Directors, 3 Education Officers, 1 PA-Computer
Operator, 4 Office Assistant-Computer Operators, 3 Drivers, 2 Office Assistants. The organogram is
attached in Annex.

PST Management Structure:

PEDP4 has a provision of setting up a Program Support Team (PST), comprising of six specialists with
relevant professional competencies, under the leadership of ADG-PEDP4 at DPE HQ. MoPME in discussion
with DPE had appointed two consultants as Program Coordination Specialist and Institutional
Strengthening and Career Path Specialist on 18 October 2018. DPE has already developed the ToRs of four
other consultants: Quality Support Specialist, Infrastructure Specialist, Data Analysis & Monitoring
Specialist and Financial Management Specialist. ToRs of these four consultants have been sent to MoPME
for approval on 10 January 2019. DPE is expecting to receive the approval soon.

Brief Update on Progress of 3 Components of PEDP4


Component Subcomponent Achievements
1.1 Curriculum NCTB has developed an Action Plan to revise
curriculum and develop teaching-learning

MoPME. Under this teacher recruitment plan a
total number of 61,166 (Additional
Teachers: 30000, PPE Teachers: 26000,
Assistant Teachers: 5166) teachers will be
recruited.
1.4 Teacher education DPEd training is going on in 59 PTIs in single
shift and in 8 PTIs in double shift.
In total, 15000 teachers are currently enrolled
in academic session of January 2019 – June
2020 of DPEd program.
