1) Draw a Mohr’s circle for the object shown below:

[𝐻𝑒𝑟𝑒, 𝑥 = 𝑚𝑖𝑑𝑑𝑙𝑒 3 − 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝐼𝐷.

𝐸𝑥𝑎𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒: 𝐼𝐷 = 191410047, 𝑠𝑜 𝑥 = 410]

2) A 8 + 0.004𝑥 meter long concrete column having the elastic modulus of 100 + 0.006𝑥 kN/mm2
and the cross section shown in the figure is to be used in a building. Determine the maximum
allowable axial load (Pallow) the column can support so that it does not buckle. The safety factor is
taken as 3.0. Given that:

a) Both end of the column are pinned ends

b) Both end of the column are fixed ends
c) One end fixed and the other end is free to move

[𝐻𝑒𝑟𝑒, 𝑥 = 𝑚𝑖𝑑𝑑𝑙𝑒 3 − 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝐼𝐷.

𝐸𝑥𝑎𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒: 𝐼𝐷 = 191410047, 𝑠𝑜 𝑥 = 410]
