CASE STUDY ANALYSIS


INTRODUCTION
Satish was a sales manager for Industrial Products Company.

He was promoted as Deputy Manager- Product Manager for a division of products which he
was not very familiar with.

The company VP- Mr. George, convened a meeting of all Product Managers. Satish’s new
boss was not able to attend due to some pre-occupation.

Marketing Manager- Preet asked Satish to join the meeting on behalf of his boss.

Preet introduced Satish to VP in briefly.

Meeting started and Mr. George started questioning every Product manager attending the
meeting.

FACTS & ISSUES


Many managers were clear of George’s way of working and had thoroughly prepared for the
meeting.

Satish was new to the meeting, he was little confused and fared miserably.

George failed to remember that Satish is new to that particular job.

Preet didn’t interrupt George and even Satish was calm at the time of meeting.

George was angry on Satish for not preparing for his work and lack of planning in the
department.

George asked an advice to Preet that he was harsh to Satish and Preet replied to him, yes, you
were.

George decided to apologize to Satish and called him to his cabin and apologized to him.

George even told Satish about his job in the organisation that to correct the wrong decisions
taken by his superiors.
SUGGESTIONS
 Satish should gather information about meeting before getting into it.
 Preet must have atleast mention him about the VP and about the procedure of the
meeting.
 George must be less questioned and be more informative towards Satish.

QUESTIONS
1. Was it all necessary for George to apologize to such a junior employee like Satish?

Ans: Yes, it is necessary for the George to apologize Satish, though he was new to the
head office and junior to the George but apologizing to him keeps the morale of Satish
and motivate him to work more effectively for the organization.

2. If you were in Satish’s place, how would you response to George’s apology?

Ans: If I were in Satish’s place, I would like thank him and promise him to know the
things prior and learn the things within the given time.

3. Was George correct in saying that Satish is there to correct the “Stupid Mistakes” of
his boss and George?

Ans: George means to say that Satish is there to correct their wrong decisions and also
Satish have to prove that their authorities decision was correct by selecting him for the
Head office. Other bosses also wants Satish to work according to the policies of the
company.

4. Would you employee George in your company?

Ans: Yes, I would like to employee George in my company because the person who
realizes his mistake and know the ethics can be one of the effective employee in the
organisation.

5. Did Preet make a mistake by not interrupting during the meeting and correct George’s
misconception about Satish?

Ans: No, it was OK to be calm for Preet at the time George was talking. But he would
remind him, the meeting would have been better.
6. As an Hr man, how would you define the character of George- bullying but later
regretting? Does his attitude need to be corrected?

Ans: George is a good leader and he is a kind of person who is into a work will does his
work with full dedication and concentration. He has to improve his soft-skills to be more
people oriented.

7. Would you be happy to have George/Preet as your boss?

Ans: Yes, I would be happy to have George/Preet as my boss because they are friendly
and makes their subordinates feel comfortable.

CONCLUSION
From the above, we can conclude that Satish has been new to the post that to the place
where he has less knowledge and when a person reaches to a higher position, he has to
look after all the people and the processes. He has to understand the people, their
capability and their processes, he should not be compromising with the quality of work.
So, it is a huge job for the manager to take care of everything going in the organisation.
