2nd Soldier Letter
2nd Soldier Letter
Thank you for allowing me to write a follow-up letter about our “Adopt a Soldier Campaign”. I am
referring to the letter in last week’s bulletin in which the Pastoral Council launched an “Adopt a
Soldier Campaign” as a way of extending “hospitality” to the soldiers in our parish family.
We are asking that you take the “Hospitality Pillar” to the next level by adopting a soldier. You could
adopt as an individual. Or, if you belong to the Women’s Guild, KC’s or some other group, your
might want to adopt as a group. If you or your group adopt a soldier, you could write letters, cards, or
send care packages. The PRE classes are planning to send artwork. How special!! If the soldier is
back at home, we are suggesting a “one-time letter” thanking them for their service. The cost of
sending a card or letter is only .44 and can reach a soldier in less than a week. The post office also
has a box they offer especially for mailing items. You can ship up to 70 pounds for $12.50. It is too
late for a package to reach them for Christmas, but I am sure a package would be welcome at any
time. We found a great list of suitable items when we Googled “Great Ideas for U.S. Soldiers Care
Packages through FunTimesGuide”. I am sure, however, that there are many more websites.
While sending cards, letters, and packages are very important, the MOST important thing we can do
for our soldiers is to PRAY for them. And by the way, isn’t prayer our next pillar??? The military
addresses for our soldiers, and contact people with phone numbers are listed below:

(Call Cathy for address) attend USM in 01/2011)
