Chloe Grace Moretz
Chloe Grace Moretz
as ‘The Poker House,’ ‘Kick-Ass,’ and ‘If I Stay.’ Venturing into Hollywood as a
child actor, she proved her mettle quite early on with her role in the movie ‘The
Amityville Horror’ which led her to be nominated for a major award. Even
though she was just seven when she started acting, she earned much praise
for her acting skills and determination. She played a very challenging role in the
action film ‘Kick-Ass’ for which she trained hard for three months with Jackie
Chan's stunt crew. The young girl even insisted on performing her stunts
herself! After establishing herself as a child actor, she looked forward to do
more acting roles as a teenager. Unlike several other child stars whose careers
fizzle out as they reach their teens, Chloe went on to develop a successful
acting career as a young adult as well. She gained much appreciation for her
poignant role as Mia in the teen romantic drama ‘If I Stay’ in 2014. The actress
is also a well-known model and has modeled for publications such as ‘Vogue,’
‘Marie Claire,’ and ‘Elle.’
Career
Chloe Moretz appeared in two episodes of the television series ‘The
Guardian’ in 2004 and earned her first film role in the movie ‘Heart of the
Beholder’ in 2005. She then bagged another one in ‘The Amityville Horror’
the same year. She received her first award nomination for her performance
in the latter.
After playing small roles in several other films, she was selected to play the
Hit-Girl in director Matthew Vaughn's action film ‘Kick-Ass’ in 2010. The role
required her to perform a lot of action sequences and thus she trained with
Jackie Chan's stunt crew for three months. The movie became a huge hit
and Chloe’s role was appreciated.
In 2011, she played the role of Little Anne Sliger in the crime film ‘Texas
Killing Fields.’ The film was loosely inspired by true events surrounding the
murder of several women in areas surrounding the oil fields of Texas City.
Chloe Moretz played a rebellious teenager in the 2012 horror comedy film
‘Dark Shadows.’ Directed by Tim Burton, the movie also had Johnny Depp,
Michelle Pfeiffer, and Helena Bonham in major roles.
Already a popular figure in the film industry by now, she enjoyed even
greater success after the release of the hit movies ‘Kick-Ass 2’ (2013) and
‘Carrie’ (2013) where her characters were hugely accepted and loved by the
masses.
Due to her rising popularity as an actress and fashion icon, she is often
invited to major haute couture events like the Paris Fashion Week. She was
awarded the Elle Style Award for Next Future Icon by ‘Elle Magazine’ in
2013.
Alongside her career in films, Chloe also made her theater debut in the Off-
Broadway production, ‘The Library’ (2014) which was directed by Steven
Soderbergh.
In 2016, she acted in the comedy film ‘Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising’ where
she played the role of Shelby, a freshman at the Phi Lamda sorority. Made
on a budget of $35 million, the film grossed $108 million worldwide.
Moretz has now not only made a name for herself as a Hollywood actress,
but is also widely popular for her modeling talents. This beauty queen has
graced the covers of major publications like ‘Vogue’, ‘Elle,’ and ‘Marie Claire’
among others.
Universal Studios announced recently that they have chosen Chloe to star
in the live action version of the famous fairy tale ‘The Little Mermaid’ which
will be written by Richard Curtis.
Major Works
Her role as Mindy Macready / Hit-Girl in the 2010 black comedy action film
‘Kick-Ass’ earned her many compliments. Though the movie generated
some controversy for its profanity and violence, it went on to become a
super hit at the box office and also received positive reviews from critics.
One of Chloe Moretz’s most acclaimed recent roles was as Cassie Sullivan
in the hit movie ‘The 5th Wave’ (2016) which is an adaptation of Rick
Yancey’s bestselling novel of the same name.
