ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE:

Saddlewood Elementary School – Elementary Principal Internship


Colonie, NY – South Colonie School District August 2019 – June 2020

 Conducted action research on Academic Parent Teacher Teams to increase parent


engagement. Indicatives included open-ended parent teacher conferences with a
goal-setting model. Data-sharing through parent education seminars to engage
parents to be more effective in helping their children progress academically.
 Helped plan, implement, and manage daily bus dismissal process, assist students
with bus behavior education, researched bus incidents and communicated with
parents about bussing issues.
 Assisted the PBIS committee to promote a safe, responsible, respectful, and kind
school learning community by providing students opportunities to understand
school expectations.
 Helped develop staff members’ capacity in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
through small group focus meetings, counseling/observing a teacher needing help
a student struggling through crisis, and reviewing plans for how and when to use
physical interventions.

Sacandaga Elementary School – Elementary Principal Internship


Scotia, NY – Scotia-Glenville Central School District May 2019 – August 2019

 Assisted in hiring a special education teacher and a general education teacher for
the 2019-2020 academic year. Helped determine which candidates from OLAS
met the needs of our fourth grade team, assisted in writing a team interview
protocol so the interview process would be objective and based on the needs of
the building, and took part of the interview committee where we had candidates
conduct model lessons. Collaborated and participated in the superintendent-level
interview where the eventual hiring decision was made.
 Participated as a data-team representative investigating and designing
Sacandaga’s school improvement plan mandated through the Every Student
Succeeds Act. Analyzed the school’s performance on previous years’ New York
State Assessment and other data sources to give a picture of needs facing the
students.
 Assisted in completing a master schedule for academic blocks, Response-to-
Intervention blocks, and special classes. Used building goals for the 2019-2020
academic year to prioritize scheduling decisions that would have the maximum
effect on increasing student achievement. Helped ensure goals set in ESSA
Improvement Plan were supported through scheduling decisions.
 Helped craft and facilitate professional development for AIMSWEBPLUS
benchmarking training at the district-level and roll out training out to
instructional staff before school started.
 Helped manage the K-12 Special Education Extended School Year Program
where I conducted classroom walkthroughs, helped manage student behavior,
and coordinated teaching assignments. Also assisted to manage administrative
functions of arrival, parent pickup, bus dismissal, attendance, and student data-
collection/record-keeping.

 Utilize a full understanding of New York’s Next Generate State Standards to


design, modify, and implement standards-based lessons and learning activities
for a diverse group of fourth graders.
 Attempt to drive the instructional-focus of the building as a member of the
school’s Cite-Based Leadership Team. Use action research and collaboration
through professional learning communities to implement building goals
concerning poverty, trauma, student-engagement, response to intervention, and
school safety.
 Actively participate in school-community events and engage in effective
communication with parents, students, and administration.
 Currently working with Mrs. Wranesh, principal at Saddlewood, as a school
building leader intern through my certification program at SUNY Albany.

Park Elementary School – 4th Grade


Baltimore, MD - Anne Arundel County Public Schools August 2013 – June 2016
 Provided mathematics instruction to three classes of diverse learners as the
fourth-grade lead math teacher. Provide writing and language arts instruction to
a class of gifted and talented fourth graders.
 Work with teachers of other disciplines, such as English Language Arts, science,
art, and music to design integrated, cross-curricular lessons and projects.
 Collaboratively wrote a STEAM project based on students’ interest in creating a
disc golf course on the school property. Aligned standards that needed to be
taught in the C.C.S.S. math curriculum to activities related to building the disc
golf course. The lessons addressed domains of measurement and data, operations
and algebraic thinking, and geometry.
 Attended professional development training to investigate the architecture of the
Common Core State Standards, how the Standards for Mathematical Practice fit
into providing meaningful and rich learning experiences for children, and
examined the C.C.S.S. vertical alignment across multiple grade-levels. This
included investigating how the standards relate to each other as a student
proceeds through their elementary, middle, and high school years.
 Collaborated with Anne Arundel County School's Office of Elementary
Mathematics to design a curriculum introduction and best practices presentation
for new teachers and presented information to new elementary teachers during
New Teacher Orientation 2014-2015. Also, assisted the Office of Elementary
Mathematics to review AACPS county-made assessments.
 Participated in a classroom-based research project with Johns Hopkins University
attempting to increase multicultural awareness and reduce cultural bias in the
classroom.
 Attended the 2015 National Council of Teachers of Mathematics national
meeting and exposition to acquire techniques for engaging and enriching
mathematics education at the elementary school level. Presented the information
learned at exposition as professional development for teachers in grades three
though five.
 Selected as Park Elementary Educator-of-the-Year by staff and administration.

Davidsonville Elementary School – 5th Grade


Davidsonville, MD - Anne Arundel County Public Schools August 2010 – June 2013

 Engaged, challenged, and motivated a diverse group of fifth grade students in the
subject areas of science, mathematics, and language arts to make students active,
life-long learners.
 Differentiated instruction based on formative assessments of students’ individual
learning styles, area of interest, readiness levels, and concept obtainment.
Actively use data to drive daily instructional decisions, including data from
electronic exit tickets using Smart Response system, county assessments, and
observations. Provided gifted and talented instruction by teaching and adapting
the Advanced Learner Program curriculum to 30 highly advanced learners in
mathematics.
 Designed and implemented student-centered projects, including STEM projects.
These projects utilize student choice in their subject-matter focus, flexibility for
learners at different readiness levels, and differentiation of the product by
readiness level and learning style. Projects completed range from a student
charity fair, an unsolved mysteries project, a geology investigation, and a
tessellations/geometry project during mathematics.
