Introduction
Ideally you have officially grown a beard, have chosen to grow a
beard, or are still in the “considering growing one” phase.

On the off chance, that for some reason, you are not convinced that
facial hair is for you, then maybe this book isn’t for you.
If you’re still on the edge of the fence, continue reading and see how
you feel afterwards.
Growing a ragged thick beard and/or mustache is seen by many
societies as a transitional experience for men and an image of force.
Be that as it may, not everybody has the ability and the growth rate
required for a great beard. Success will rely on both hereditary
qualities and testosterone levels, in addition to persistence and
tolerance.
This implies a few men can just create a wispy bum cushion, while
others can create a timberland of beardness by simply raising one
eyebrow. In any case, you owe it to yourself to beard up.
This fine book will direct you through the invigorating changes that
growing a beard will bring. We will help you on your voyage,
addressing those troublesome inquiries and ultimately leading to a
successful conquest!

Methods for Growing a Beard

Few men are honored with quickly developing facial hair, while others
may battle with moderate growth or inconsistent bristles. The rate
that your facial hair grows depends, for the most part, on hereditary
qualities and testosterone levels. If you are impatient for your beard
to come in, there are a couple tricks you can attempt to augment
growth rate. To grow a beard quicker, tend to your face by cleaning,
saturating, and peeling appropriate. Take biotin or other vitamin
supplements that support hair growth, and allow your beard to sit
unbothered as it begins growing in.

Method 1: Caring for your Face

Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times each week. Utilize a scour or an exfoliant
for men. Expelling dead skin cells will animate new hair growth.
Attempt a peeling cover. You will apply the item to your face and
abandon it for a timeframe of 10 to 30 minutes, before rinsing it.
Keep your skin clean. Wash it with warm water and a mellow face
wash each morning and night. Clean skin urges hair to grow. Use a
cream or lotion with eucalyptus. Items with eucalyptus are valuable
in helping hair grow rapidly on your face.
Check your face for ingrown hairs. Beards won't grow in uniformly if
there are ingrown hairs.
Get a lot of rest. Rest will help your skin cells repair themselves and
advance beard growth.
Try to keep yourself stress-free.

Method 2: Taking Vitamins and Supplements.

Introduce Vitamin B into your eating routine. Vitamins B1, B6 and

B12 are particularly valuable in helping hair grow quickly. Biotin is
also an important supplement to take. Increase the amount of protein
in your eating regimen. Protein found in meat, fish, eggs and nuts
will grow facial hair speedier.

Focus on plant-based foods. Hair can't grow without the best possible
supplements in the body, and foods grown from the ground give a
few of the vitamins and minerals hair needs to grow rapidly.

Method 3: Leaving the Beard Alone.

Resist the inclination to trim or shape your beard. On the off chance
that you need the hair to come in rapidly, allow it to sit unbothered
while it grows. You will have the opportunity to trim the beard after
a month and a half when it is full
Overlook the conviction that shaving routinely makes hair grow
thicker and faster.
There is no logical proof to bolster this. Shaving your beard will just
lessen the measure of hair on your face, not acquire it more rapidly.
Since your hair won't all grow at a similar pace, your face may get
bothersome and chafed. You may also experience what we call
“Beardruff” and itch. This is from dry skin beneath the beard that
creates and itchy sensation, usually within the 2-4 week stage of
growing a beard. Recommended use of a quality beard oil or beard
balm will help alleviate itch.
If you experience the ill effects of tingling or a rash, get some
information about applying a hydrocortisone cream to your face while
you are growing in your beard. It will mitigate the tingling. In any
case, it can also have negative symptoms when utilized on the face,
so just apply it as indicated by specialist supervision and guidance.
Shaving (Your face)
It's not just the hair on your head that needs extra care and attention
- facial hair also has a great impact on your overall look, confidence
and more importantly, comfort.
If razor bumps, red skin, cuts and burns all sound familiar to you,
then you certainly need to make some changes with your facial hair
care routine.
How exactly can you improve your facial hair care routine? To make
things work better, you will need to exert extra effort and spend time
caring for your skin. It may sound like a lot in the beginning, but once
you make it a habit, your skin will thank you for it and you will realize
that your efforts are worth it.

It is best to shave your facial hair after a shower. If taking a shower

is not possible, you should at least moisturize beforehand. Take a
look at the following steps that make up an ideal facial hair care
routine:

1. Use a liquid cleanser to wash your face, especially if it tends

to be dry. Liquid cleansers tend to be more moisturizing
than bar soap. Unless you have a particularly oily face, go
for a liquid cleanser for your skin care routine. Prior to
shaving, make sure that you clean your face and soften
both your skin and the hair you are about to shave. Just like
with any product, apply only a little amount in the beginning
to get a gauge on how well the product applies to your skin
.
2. Use shaving cream with aloe or pre-shaving oil. A good
shaving cream will lubricate your facial hair area well and
will have lots of moisturizers. Aloe-based shaving creams
can work wonders in terms of hydrating your skin and
keeping it moisturized. Good shaving creams will form a
creamy lather that softens your hair and makes it less
resistant to shaving. The purpose of a shaving cream is to
ensure that you get a smooth and clean shave. Once you
apply shaving cream, leave it for a minute or two to let it
settle and work its magic on softening hair before you begin
shaving. What works even better is if you can use a shaving
brush to apply shaving cream in an upward motion away
from the face. This enables your hair to “stand,” making it
possible for you to make a closer cut without injuring
yourself, making the application of a shaving cream more
efficient. A shaving brush also exfoliates your skin. It
removes dead skin cells, making room for newer and
healthier skin.

3. Use good, sharp razors and shave in the same direction

where your hair leans towards. It is recommended to
change the blades of your razors at least once a month. A
sharp razor can easily give you clean, close cuts. A dull
razor will definitely give you cuts and irritate you in the
process. Electric shavers are much easier to use and are
less prone to bumps, cuts and redness. However, traditional
razors tend to give you a closer cut. No matter which type
or razor you plan to use, keep in mind that it is best to
shave in the same direction as your hair grows, instead of
against it.

4. Apply a moisturizer. Once you’re done shaving, don’t skip

the moisturizer. Rinse your shaving cream using warm or
cold water but be sure to end the routine by washing with
cold water in order to “close” the pores. Pat your skin dry,
and while it is still a bit moist, put moisturizers like after-
shave creams and oils to ensure that your skin gets both
protection and moisturizing after a clean shave.

Shaving (Your head)

If you find yourself saying,“To shave or not to shave–that is the
question,”chances are, you are:
• Craving a new and manlier look.
• Noticing that you are likely to have balding hair.
• Possibly considering the benefits of a shaved head, that is,
saving a lot of time, effort and money as no hair styling is
required in this hairdo.
Whatever your reasons may be, do consult a professional before
shaving your head, especially if you are doing it for the first time. The
procedure is likely going to change your overall look, and the reality
is, not everyone will look good with a shaved head. There’s a
particular head shape that makes a good candidate for a shave –think
about Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel and Jason Statham. However, if your
hair is about 50% bald, then there is no reason to be reluctant about
getting your hair shaved, as you likely already know what you’re
going to look like. After all, shaving your head makes balding less
obvious.
Having your head shaved by a professional is usually the best way to
go, but if you plan to do it yourself, here are some steps to follow:
1) Cut your hair short. Get a good pair of clippers and give yourself
a very short haircut so that shaving will be a lot easier and simpler.
You will use the razor to rid your head of the stubble.
2) Take a shower. You want to moisturize your head as much as
you can, so take a quick shower. You can even apply a bit of shampoo
to remove dirt and excess oil from your head. You can also massage
your head as you shampoo your hair.
3) Apply shaving cream. To make your shaving experience smooth
and easy, get a trustworthy shaving cream and apply it on your scalp.
4) Shave. Bring in the razor and start shaving. Take it slowly and
carefully, and make sure that you do it in front of the mirror, so you
can clearly see how you’re making progress.
5) Rinse and towel dry your head. Once you are satisfied with your
shaving, rinse both the hair and the shaving cream left on your head,
and then gently dry it with a towel. You can also apply a moisturizer
afterwards.
If you are shaving your head for the first time, a barber can greatly
help in shaping your cut and ensuring that the best options are
considered for your hairdo. Shaving your head, the second time will
be easier, even if you do it by yourself. This is because you already
have a pattern you can follow–that of which was provided by your
barber.
Beard Care Products: A Guide to Keeping it
Sexy
Growing a beard is an important business. One not to be taken lightly.
The beard movement already has its haters that seek to dethrone our
magnificence by branding bearded men as lazy and unhygienic. This
is a stereotype we must abolish by example. This is why this chapter
will talk about beard products. I’m going to take you through all the
equipment you need to care for your face mane and show these non-
believers that bearded men are in fact, the most well-kept creatures
to ever bless this earth.
Beard oil:
Let’s start with the one of the most important and useful products in
the arsenal of any beard faced Adonis. Beard oil is an essential part
of any man’s grooming routine. It keeps the hard to reach skin under
your face fur moisturized and helps prevents it from becoming dry
and flakey.
Not only does it help keep your skin healthy, it also penetrates into
your beard hair to ultimately soften and tame any hard to control
rogue hairs. Beard oil comes in a multiplicity of variants, scents,
shapes and sizes. We all have our favorites and preferences, so I will
allow you to make your way through this oily world without too much
influence. What I will say is, some of the most popular and beautiful
smelling varieties are the wood scented oils.
The best time to apply is directly after a shower or face wash. Towel
dry the beard and apply while the beard is still slightly moist and
warm, at this point the hair follicles and pores of the skin are at their
most open, this allows the beard oil to do its job to the best of its
ability. Do not dry your beard with a hair dryer, it can cause the hairs
to be dry and brittle. If you do, it will feel like your applying your
beard oil to a Brillo pad and will not properly penetrate the hairs.
When it comes to the application of beard oil, there’s no need to go
crazy. Apply a few drops into the palm of your hand, and then rub
your hands together spreading evenly across both palms and fingers.
Now move your hands gently but deeply through your beard. You
want it to reach the skin underneath if possible, this will help to
moisturize the hairy jungle floor.
What’s great about beard oil is it also acts as a great styling agent,
so once it is fully taken into your hair, style it into a shape of your
beardy fancy.
Beard Combs and Brushes:
Obviously the most important beard tool to keep you looking
ferociously manly while on the go, has to be the trusty beard comb.
Again, the variety available on the market is vast! Ranging from
wood, plastic, steel in an array of different designs and styles.
Again, this is completely based on a person’s preference, my favorite
comb style is the folding comb, it’s small, versatile and makes you
look like a cool mother fucker. Slap it out when your fluff needs a
buff, flick it back, put on your shades and your good to go.
I would also recommend that you get a comb with wider prongs to
keep at home when you’re grooming. This is for when your man mane
gets out of control and needs to be combed into submission. Easing
your way down to a small prong size when it gets a bit crazy, this
spares you a bit of pain, think of it as foreplay. We may look hard as
nails, but we are all really sensitive sally’s deep down (let us never
speak of this outside this book). Boars hair brushes are also great to
comb through oils and balms and help keep stray hairs at bay.
The Beard Scissors:
Although you can still maintain a beard using normal scissors, owning
a pair of your own barbers scissors does not only make you look like
a well prepared beard virtuoso, it gives your freshly trimmed beard a
much more neat and professional look, this is because a good set
barber scissors are much sharper than normal scissors and are made
to fit more comfortably in the hand while cutting, so you’ve got much
more control, mistakes bring tears in the bearding game. So, a good
pair of beard cutting scissors are a worthwhile investment, trust me
people will look at your face and think...now that handsome mound
of flesh filled testosterone has got his life under control.
Mustache Wax:
Mustache wax is a really cool product available on the beard product
market. It comes in a variety of consistencies and a multiplicity of
scents. It really is all down to personal preference. But I’m going to
tell you what I look for in a mustache wax because dang flabbit this
is my book and my mustache isn’t bad, even if I do say so myself! I
would recommend trying to find a wax that is initially hard but when
put to the finger tips, melts quickly without any clumping. I really like
the woody scents for mustache wax because that makes me feel like
a lumberjack, and women seem to be attracted to the smell (maybe
it reminds them of a freshly fitted kitchen, because I’m sure some of
you have had to fork out for one of those to keep the old gal happy).
To apply, dig the topside of your index finger into the tub, and rub it
in a forward/back motion, so as to produce the wax onto the top side
of your nail. Then take the wax and rub it in-between your first two
fingers and thumb until its completely melted and barely visible. At
this point the scent of the wax will become pungent and you may
become erect. Apply sparingly depending on your style. More will be
needed for tash curlers! And hey presto you’ve just become an instant
10, no need to thank me.

Beard Shampoo and Conditioner:

Sounds pretty obvious, but you would be surprised at how many
people are surprised when I tell them that I shampoo and condition
my beard. The feeling of a freshly shampooed and conditioned beard
is something that strikes primal sexual aggression into the minds of
women everywhere. Add a nice smelling scent to that and your knee-
deep mate. Not all shampoos and conditioners are made equally, and
I recommend you use one specifically formulated for beards. In
regard to applying, please use your bloody common sense.

Beard Balm:
Another little treat for us hair lovers is the old beard balm. This lovely
little fellow is a nice little treat for any accomplished grower. Packed
full of lovely little ingredients that complement beards smell,
appearance and health, it really is a great product.
Some people argue that you don’t need beard balm as it’s the same
as beard oil but this is bollocks. Beard oil is brewed by mixing carrier
oils with essential oils to create a leave-in beard and skin conditioner.
Beard balm is made by making a blend of certain sealants, oils, and
moisturizers to create a thinker substance called a pomade, pomades
are great for making the beard smell great as well as styling the beast
to look nice for the ladies or fellows depending on what you’re into.
I like to apply my beard balm or pomade right at the end of my beard
grooming process. Like wax I’ll take a small clump in-between my
thumb and two fingers and work it in until it melts away into an oily
substance, ensure there is no clumps hiding in the cracks of the
fingers and then apply it to your beard. Don’t go mad rubbing it in
like you do with beard oil, you should be styling it at this point. I like
to use my pomade to flatten my beard down and catch any
standalone hairs who think I’m not their boss.
Beard Care: A Guide to Maintenance and
Grooming
Okay enough pissing around, it’s time to get into the nitty gritty. In
this chapter, I’m going to take you through how to be a pro groomer.
Owning a beard is kind of like being a devout religious man. Let me
explain, religious people don’t usually just decide they’re going to be
a part of that stuff for shits and gigs, they do it because they want to
get in touch with their spiritual side, they want something to commit
to, something bigger than themselves, this is what a healthy
relationship with your beard should be…a road to enlightenment. This
is the start of your grooming journey.
The Trim:
Trimming your beard is something all us beardy folk like to do, its
keeps us on top of the perpetual growth battle. If you’ve already got
a decent sized beard you know that you love that sucker more than
your Mrs (if you’re a single bearded male your knee deep in it for
sure) and although it can be a ball ache when you’ve just tamed the
beast a couple of days ago and its starting to turn hobo-ish, we still
love the trimming process.
An effective way to start trimming your beard, if you haven’t had
much practice, is to start with some electric clippers. Get a set of
clippers that have different guard depths. If you’re initially a bit
nervous about maiming the thing I suggest you start on a higher
guard, then work your way down to a closer guard as your confidence
builds.
I personally only use beard clippers if I’m in a rush, you just can’t
savor all the little emotions with clippers you know? To trim my beard,
I use my barber scissors, it takes more time and effort but there is
just something extremely satisfying about hearing that snip snip snip.
I would recommend going with clippers first though. This allows you
to find out what beard shape suits your face without as much risk
being involved. This takes me onto my next point!
If you’re wondering if you can go free-hand with the clippers and not
attach any guard depths, use the logic of a tattoo artist. They only
free hand shit after a hell of a lot of practice and experience. Get to
know how you like your beard with more precise methods first before
you move onto any free-handing, otherwise you may end of looking
like you let Stevie Wonder have a bash at trimming it for you.
Find Your Face:
When first entering the beard game there is going to be a period
similar to when you were entering puberty at school, things are going
to look a bit messed up for you at times and some embarrassing
images of you may get shared on social media. Don’t worry too much
about this, you’re like a post graduate student traveling around Asia
for 6 months, you’re discovering yourself man.
Through your experimentation from your frequent trimming you
should develop your beard style and you will know when this
happens, trust me. You will catch yourself in the mirror one day or
someone will share a picture of you from a night out and you will
think ‘Omg, I’m beautiful!’
This is something that really will be uniquely your own, but if I had a
few tips I could mention, I would say it’s best to not overpower your
attributes man, if you’ve already got a banging jawline, you can grow
the beard quite evenly around your face to make it more defined.
If you’ve got nicely defined cheek bones, try not to grow your beard
too big. Have it fitting more nicely to your face on the sides, this will
allow those wonderful cheeks to protrude like the dog’s bollocks.
My final little tip would be just to imagine your face is a work of art,
like a very detailed landscape painting. With this in mind, you have
to keep everything proportional and symmetrical. If you start going
all Salvador Dali on that shit your face will look like a pile of crumpled
cardboard.
The Mustache:
A pivotal part of any man’s beard arsenal is the iconic mustache,
growing a mustache can be equally as rewarding as growing a beard
and this is a noble of path some gentlemen tread down, but this path
can be treacherous so here’s a few things I learned when I was
growing my mustache.
You will get some people chatting shit about how your mustache
shouldn’t hang over your lip, and how it should be in proportion with
the rest of your beard, but have you seen some of these guys with
large hipster mustaches on their beards man? They look pretty cool
if they are done right.
In grooming terms, you can actually get rounded scissors for this,
which gives the mustache a lovely curved off shape and leaves a
dashing cut in the center of the top lip so you can still access it, get
ready ladies. I like to start from the center of my mustache at the
splitting point at the top lip. You should work down each side
individually and not start the other side until you’ve got the shape
you want for the first side. If you do each side bit by bit, it’s just too
much fanning about and you might lose its symmetrical shape.
The Neck Beard:
If you’ve not fully committed to growing a beard before, you may hit
some bumps along the road. It’s not all plain sailing, you may have
imagined you’d look like some kind of Greek statue but instead you
look like big foot. So, one part of preventing this is keeping the neck
beard in check. I’d recommend using an electric beard shaver for
doing this, but if you haven’t got one of these, cutting it down shorter
with scissors and then shaving it with a razor works just as well.
Watch out for rashes though, you don’t want to win the neck beard
battle at the expense of looking like you just got attacked by a bee’s
nest. Your aim is to shave the neck line about an inch above the
Adam’s apple. Also, when shaving between the ear and beard line on
the side of your face its best to taper down in line with your jaw line.
This really accentuates your rugged facial features.
The Furry Cheeks:
Now the fur that grows on a man’s cheeks all comes down to personal
preference, I used to let mine grow a little bit, to give the impression
that my beard was climbing up my face in an attempt to turn me into
one of those wolf kids with faces completely covered in hair. Those
little dudes have got beard game. If you want to have more of a
tailored look I would recommend getting your beard shaver and
working a line down from high on your cheek down to your mustache.
The cheek and mustache need to meet in more of a delicate way.
Rather than competitors fighting for turf, think of them more as
lovers, in a harmonious romance. When the beard line and mustache
meet, the mustache should just ease into it almost effortlessly.
Anyway, I would experiment with this, some people like to have a
harsher straight line down the cheek, and others like to go for a more
rounded off look. If you’re unsure I would get a barber to do this for
you, it’s pretty low risk and they will most likely do a good job of
it. Turkish Barbers specialize in this kind of work. They will make a
very nice cheek line (they will also burn all the little bum fluff hairs
you have growing on your ears with a match!).
