7. 5. TWO BEHAVIORAL DIMENSIONS CONCERN FOR PEOPLE

– This is the degree to which a leader considers team members’ needs,


interests and areas of personal development when deciding how best to
accomplish a task.

CONCERN FOR TASK – This is the degree to which a leader emphasizes concrete
objectives, organizational efficiency and high productivity when deciding how
best to accomplishing a task.

BLAKE AND MOUTON MANAGERIAL GRID

• The managers with this leadership style exert minimum effort to get the work
done by the subordinates. They have minimal concern for both the people and
production.

TEAM LEADER • The leader lays more emphasis on the personal needs of the
subordinates and give less attention to the output.

AUTHORITY/ OBEDIENCE • The manager with this style tries to keep a balance
between the organizational goals and the personal needs of his subordinates.

IMPOVERISHED • The leader is more concerned with the production and lay less
emphasis on the personal needs of his subordinates.

COUNTRY CLUB • It is the most effective leadership style wherein the leader
takes both people and production hand in hand.
