and in words

III. Learning Procedure


A. Preliminary Activity
1. Drill
Flash cards of numbers between 101-1000 and let the pupils will identify
and read it.
2. Review
Write the missing number in the box below.

3. Motibation

Distribute a set of cards with numbers written in a symbols and another


set of card with their equivalent numbers in words. Tell the pupils to find
their match. The first pair to find a match wins. Post the pairs found the
board.

B. Developmental Activities

1. Presentation

Post the problem on the board.

Glenda heard from the newscaster that there are one thousand twenty-five
voters on Barangay Sta Ana and one thousand three hundred twenty-four
voters in Barangay Nabalod.

2. Discussion

Lead the pupils to write the number on the board like this way.

Barangay Sta Ana – 1250 voters

Barangay Nabalod – 1324 voters


Is the correct the writing the numbers? Why?

Which number is witten correctly? Why?

Which is not? What is correct way of writing this numbers?

Ask the following questions.

1. How many digits do number from 1.001 to 9,999 have? Which digit belongs to
the thousands group?

2. How many digits are there 10,000? Which digit belongs to the thousands
group?

3. How did you write the numbers in symbols? How did you separate the digits
in the thousands place to that in the digits in the hundreds, tens and one’s
place?

4. How do you write the numbers in words? Do you need to write zero when
writing words? Why?

3. Generalization

How do we read the write numbers from 1001 to 10,000 in symbols and in
words?

To write numbers from 1001 to 10,000 start reading or writing from the biggest
place value down to the lowest, or from left place to right place value.

4. Application

Group activity

The class will be group into three and each group will be given a
differentiated activity

The group who will do it correctly will receive a 5 points.
