Quick Start Guide

 Introduction

The PTW v8.0 Demo version is limited to 15 buses and 35 components. Also, printing is disabled. In this
guide, we will go through the download and extraction process in order to install the PTW v8.0 demo.
There are also tutorials and user guides that will be installed.

PTW V8.0 Demo System Requirements

Before downloading the software, make sure you have the following:

• Any Windows Operating System (32 & 64 bit)

• Any Intel or AMD processor
• Minimum of 4 GB hard disk space
• 512 MB of RAM

Recommended System Requirements:

• PC running Windows 7 or newer Desktop Operating System

• Intel i7 Processor
• 8 GB of RAM
• 120 GB+ solid state hard drive
• Dual monitors

 PTW V8.0 Installation

1) To install PTW v8.0, go to the following link:

2) Once the file is downloaded, click on Run.

3) Once you click on Run, you will get the WinZip Self-Extractor window. Click on Unzip to extract
the files to the specified location.

4) If the box “When done unzipping open: \PTW32_V8016b1_Installation_Files_Demo_30” is

checked, then the PTW Setup screen will pop-up automatically. If that box is unchecked, you
have to locate the \PTW32_V8016b1_Installation_Files_Demo_30 folder and run setup.exe
manually. Click on Next to continue.

 5) Read through the license agreement. If you agree to the terms, click on the I accept the terms of
the license agreement bubble. Now you can click on Next.

6) The customer information window will be displayed. Enter your name and your company name.

 7) The next window will show PTW initial settings. PTW can use either ANSI or IEC engineering
standards with English or Metric units. Select the desired option and click Next.
(Note: You can change the settings in PTW later when desired.)

8) The next window will let you choose the destination of PTW. It is best to install it at C:\PTW32.
Click on Next to continue. The next window will show special features. Make sure that all boxes
are checked. Click Next to continue.

9) Now you are ready to install PTW v8.0. Click Install.

 10) The installation process may take a couple of minutes. Once installation is complete, an install
status window will appear. If installation was done correctly, all of the features will say
“Successful” as shown below.

11) Click on Next. A folder with the following shortcuts will appear:

12) To open PTW, double-click on PTW32. SKM Power*Tools v8.0 Demo will now launch.

13) Congratulations, you have successfully installed PTW v8.0 Demo.

 PTW Tutorial and User Guide

1) In order to view tutorials and user guides, you need to know the destination of the PTW32
folder. From step 10 above, it is located in C:\PTW32.

2) Go to My Computer.

3) Double-click on the Local Disk (C:).

4) You will now see a PTW32 folder. Double-click on PTW32.

5) Locate the Doc folder. Double-click on Doc.

6) All of the tutorials and user guides are stored in this folder. Go to Tutorial.pdf and
Userguide.pdf for more information on the software.
