INDUCTION RULES FOR TECHNICAL PERSONNEL OF MERCHANT MARINE 1987 AS AMENDED IN 1998

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY FOR DIESEL MECHANIC/FITTER.
Electrician
E-Mail 1. Age Age-limit in all cases will be 18-40 years unless otherwise mentioned.
2. Medical Status Fitness including Eye Sight and Hearing. Electrical Engineer
Verification 3. Nationality Must be a Citizen of Pakistan
Certificates as per STCW 1995
Fee Schedule (i) Personal Safety and Social Responsibility. Engine
4. Safety Courses (ii) Survival at Sea.
Examination (iii) Fire Fighting and
(iv) First Aid.
Harbour Craft 5. Minimum Secondary School Certificate/Equivalent.
3-year diploma from a Polytechnic Institution of the country or abroad in the following:
Vessels 6. (i) Auto/Diesel Technology; OR
Registration (ii) Mechanical/Power Technology; OR
3-years Trade Apprenticeship as DIESEL MECHANIC/FITTER under the Apprenticeship Ordinance of 1962 in a Marine Workshop. OR
Ships Registration Ex-Naval Dockyard apprentices having completed 4-years industrial training in Mechanical/Diesel trade under the Naval Dockyard training
Scheme.
Transfer 6-months service/on the job Training in a Marine Workshop for operation and maintenance of Diesel Engines and Welding, OR
3-months prescribed course in the field of Marine Diesel Engine and Welding.
Forms NOTE: Applicable to Serial No. 6 Para (i) and (ii)
Original Certificates with photocopy of each along with application addressed to Principal Officer, Mercantile Marine Department Karachi shall

Technical and Educational Certificates will be sent to issuing authority for verification of genuineness. The candidate is required to submit a

pay order to cover verification fee charges by the concerned Educational/Technical Board.
