VUS.4
The student will apply social science skills to understand the
issues and events leading to and during the Revolutionary Period
by evaluating how key principles in the Declaration of
Independence grew in importance to become unifying ideas of
American political philosophy.
Pedagogy

Activity Describe what the
learning activity will be. What will
the students and the teacher be
doing? (This includes what they are
doing with the technology).
1) I will introduce the lesson to the students and have
them logon to their devices in class.
2) I will show them the first video on the slide to give them
an introduction to what the Declaration was.
3) After the video I will have them list on their devices
reasons why the Declaration was formed.
4) After discussing the correct reasons listed, they will
watch the next video on slide and take notes.
5) Once the video is over on slides 7-10 the students will
be presented showing the students the main points of
the Declaration.
6) Throughout these slides the students will be able to get
on their devices to explain what these points mean to
them.
7) We will then as a class share the ideas together and see
where we all agree and disagree.
8) The next set of slides will present the students with
information to make a timeline of events to why the
framers of the Declaration made the document.
9) While being presented these slides, the students will
take notes on this.
10) The last two slides contain a premade timeline that the
students will need to fill in leading to the events that
caused the creation of this document.
11) Once completed we will go over the timelines. I will
address the timelines that are incorrect and where the
student made mistakes filling in the answers.
