SIUE Art & Design Hosts Annual Friends of Art Auction
Edwardsville, Ill., March 20, 2020 – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Art and Design department is excited to host the annual Friends of Art Auction on Friday, March 20, 2020. The auction will take place in the SIUE Art and Design West Gallery, and begins at 7 p.m. This auction is hosted by Friends of Art, a group of everyday people who appreciate the arts and aims to see them flourish. The Friends of Art Auction is the organization’s biggest fundraiser event of the year. The items available for auction are all donated by SIUE students, faculty and alumni, plus local art galleries and businesses. The event features a silent auction as well as a live auction featuring 2- D and 3-D pieces. Complimentary food and a cash bar will also be available. Friends of Art fundraises to support various activities throughout the year. The event funds scholarships, awards for students, and special art shows. The auction format provides an opportunity for friendly competition in bidding and acquiring artwork. Within SIUE Art and Design there is a lot of support for the event. Mallory Bugg, an SIUE Art and Design student, expressed “The auction is exciting, fun, and free for all SIUE students!” Leah Power, an office support specialist for Art and Design, stated, “The annual auction is an event the whole faculty and student body look forward to.” The Department of Art and Design is dedicated to creating a learning environment full of creative opportunity.
