Runoff Estimation - Manual - HEC-HMS - v2
2. Open the .hms project file created using HEC-GeoHMS. Browse for the file
3. Once the project is open, you can see four folders in the Watershed Explorer
Series Data. Expand Basin Models and click on project created by you.
Note:Right click on the Desktop and then Background Layers to add Sub-basin boundary
5. Expand reach R30and R50 in Basin Models to check the specifications for
reach and routing. For R30, give Muskingum K (HR)as1 and Muskingum X as
0.3 and for R50, give Muskingum K (HR)as 1 and Muskingum X as 0.3
6. Now click on the time series folder in the Watershed Explorer. You can see
there is a gage associated with each sub-basin. Click on a Gage in
Watershed Explorer and then change the time interval to 1 day under Time-
Series Gage in component editor. Similarly, go to Time Window and change
the Start Date / Time to 01Jul2014 08:00 and End Date / Time to 31Jul2014
08:00. Do the same procedure for rest gages.
7. Copy and Paste the rainfall data from Excel sheet into table of these gages.
8. Once, the rainfall gauge is defined, this gauge can be associated with the
corresponding sub-basins by using Meteorologic Model. To do that, expand
the Meteorologic model-> Project ->Specified Hyetograph->Sub basins. Model
will automatically take gages to the associated subbasin.
10. Now go to Compute in the menu bar, then select Create Compute ->
Simulation Run. A dialog box will appear to give this simulation run a name.
11. Now to run the model,select compute->expand simulation run ->Run 1, and
Also, the final Hydrograph at the outlet can also be seen by select outlet in the
Watershed Explorer.
