1) Loosen the CPU socket clip, open the
metal cover, and then take out the CPU
protective cap, as shown in the figure.
Note: do not use your fingers to touch
the pins in the CPU socket, to avoid
deformation.
2) Place the CPU into the CPU socket.
Note: align the locating bump on the
CPU socket with the CPU locating notch,
slightly adjust the CPU’s location to
seat it onto the socket perfectly.
3) Close the metal cover, lock the clip
to secure the CPU, as shown in the
figure.
Note: the CPU must be put in place, do
not use brute force to lock the clip.

 Hardware is identified abnormal

Method to clear CMOS

 Short circuit the CMOS jumper wire
 Method to confirm successfully clear CMOS :
• The machine will automatically start
without pressing power button in case of
being supply power after the success of
CMOS clearing.
• After the success of the CMOS clearing ,
machine BIOS Settings will become factory

Clear the CMOS
Steps to clear CMOS using the jumper method
1.Power off the system.
2.Open up the system so you can see the motherboard.
3.Locate the CMOS jumper by referring to the motherboard manual and how to clear the
CMOS. In general, the CMOS jumper is three pins located near the battery.
4.In general, CMOS jumper has positions 1–2 and 2–3. Move the jumper from the default
position 1–2 to position 2–3 to clear CMOS. Wait 1–5 minutes then move it back to the
default position.
5.Power on the system. In some systems, you might need to enter BIOS to reset to the
factory defaults.

Clear the CMOS
Steps to clear CMOS using the battery method
1.Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the server.
2.Disconnect the power cord from the AC power source.
3.Remove the server cover. Example of battery onboard:
4.Find the battery on the board. The battery may be in a
horizontal or vertical battery holder, or connected to an
onboard header with a wire.
Remove the battery:
If the battery is in a holder, note the orientation of
the + and – on the battery. Gently pry the battery free from
its connector.
If the battery is connected to an onboard header with a wire,
disconnect the wire from the onboard header.
Wait 1–5 minutes, then reconnect the battery.
5.Put the server cover back on.
6.Plug the server and all devices back in.

 BIOS Introduction

BIOS(Basic Input Output System)--The BIOS is the most basic program code loaded
on the computer motherboard. It holds the most important basic input and output
programs of the computer, the self-test program after booting, and the system self-
starting program. Its main function is to provide the lowest level of the computer with
the most direct hardware settings and control, look for boot devices, boot systems or
other pre-boot environments, etc. It can read and write specific information of system
settings from CMOS.
CMOS is often used to store a computer's basic boot information (such as date, time,
boot settings, etc.).Sometimes people will mix CMOS and BIOS. In fact, CMOS is a
readable and writable parallel or serial FLASH chip on the motherboard. It is used to
save the BIOS hardware configuration and user settings for certain parameters.
The BIOS of Inspur Purley platform server is developed based on AMI's Codebase. It
supports Legacy and UEFI environment operations. It has rich in-band and out-of-band
configuration functions and rich and scalable features to meet the needs of different
customers.

configure the Boot Mode. This sets the system
startup mode (UEFI Mode/Legacy Mode) and sets
the execution mode of the Option ROM of Network,
Storage, Video Oprom Policy, and Other PCI devices
as shown in the figure.
Currently, the Inspur Purley platform is generally
set to UEFI Mode by default. UEFI mode has many
advantages compared with legacy mode. It can
support GPT format hard disk booting larger than
2.2T, support IPv6 or IPv4 network PXE boot,
provide UEFI Shell environment and so on. This
item can be customized according to customer
needs.
If Boot Mode is set to Legacy Mode, the Option
ROM of Network, Storage, Video Oprom Policy, and
Other PCI devices must be set to Legacy.
If the Boot Mode is set to UEFI Mode, the
implementation mode of the Option ROM of the
Network must be set to UEFI, and the execution
mode of the Option ROM of the Storage, Video
Oprom Policy, and Other PCI devices is
recommended to be set to UEFI. If there is special
requirement, it can be set to Legacy.
