Being a resilient person in times of COVID-19

How to improve your resilience in times of Covid 19?

To be one, developing your resilience requires two fundamental pillars that in moments of
adversity give us emotional stability: family and social relationships. Along with this, I
suggest working in our mind five dispositions: Attitude. Patience. Creativity.
Responsibility. Schedule.

With the health crisis of COVID-19 , we are experiencing situations of uncertainty that
provoke feelings of fear, restlessness and nervousness in us. It is normal; Although we
cannot feed those feelings. We are not prepared to tackle a future scenario that has not yet
arrived and for which we have no resources. Yes we are prepared to bring to our head
complicated situations that we have dealt with in the past, we have generated skills and
resources; Thinking about it gives us security and confidence .

Five dispositions of a resilient person:

Attitude

This confinement scenario can encourage reflection to be able to change and improve
behaviors and practices in our lives that were not healthy or ecological and to value what
really matters. This will influence to create a cozy family space.

Patience

We are used to impulsiveness, to wanting things here and now, and that generates a lot of
stress and living life without living it. It is a golden opportunity to work patience; that
favors managing frustration, reflecting and making better decisions.

Creativity

Mental flexibility prevails and to do things differently. Let's not let fear block us. Let us
trust people and their ability to do good. These situations that we are seeing, bring out the
best in us. We have creative freedom that we can now develop.

Schedule

It is a fundamental element: schedule to work, rest and talk ... Work-life balance . I suggest
that you make time for family conversation. Listening works the muscle of mindfulness,
and when we are watching movies and series, encouraging conversations about characters,
behaviors, etc ... is a very powerful source of self-knowledge and that of others.
For all that we need discipline. Perhaps it is a word that is not fashionable and is replaced
by routine, which is kinder; It does not seem bad to me although the advantages of the
discipline are many: it encourages calm in the most critical moments. It makes us more
tolerant of frustration. It favors the self-esteem and the organization of the own life. We
better manage time and stress. It is key to success.

Responsibility

Following the rules of the experts makes us leave our comfort zone and have a broad view.
To know how to visualize the advantages of following the rules and also the disadvantages
of thinking only of us.

The heart does not have to be confined: individualism is neither ecological nor sustainable.
Get used to reflecting on the consequences of our actions in relation to the common good.

Criticism and victimhood do not help. Civil society is exercising leadership. Now more
than ever we have to be in solidarity and our contribution can always be that each one prays
as usual by the professionals who are on the front line protecting us from the rest. Prayer
gives a lot of peace to the heart.
