1 Introduction
Some radio configurations may require an upgrade of both the power system
capacity and the climate capacity.
When existing radio configurations are expanded, the total power consumption
must been known to be able to make a correct dimensioning of the required
cabinet power capacity. For example, upgrading to a radio with more power
consumption may require both re-cabling and fuse replacement. The heat
dissipation within the cabinet must also be considered (RBS dependent) to
match the climate capacity.
The workflow for this procedure and references to detailed instructions are
described in Power System Dimensioning Workflow on page 2.
For further support, also refer to the product descriptions of the hardware
units.

Examples:
The configuration changes for this upgrade scenario are shown in Table 3.
(1) When changing from 60 W to 80 W versions, a new Hardware Activation Code (HWAC) is needed to use
increased capability.
Examples:
• RUS 01 → RUS 02
• RRUS 11 → RRUS 12
• AIR 21 → AIR 32
• RRUL62 → RRUL 63
• RRUL 81 → RRUL 82
The configuration changes for this upgrade scenario are shown in Table 4.
(1) More radio units, or new radio units with higher output power, can increase the cabinet temperature. Temperature
alarms can be an indication that an upgraded climate system is required.
Examples:
• RRUS 01 → RRUS 12
The configuration changes for this upgrade scenario are shown in Table 5.
(1) New configuration in Base Station Controller (BSC) might also be needed after upgrade.
(2) More radio units, or new radio units with higher output power, can increase the cabinet temperature. Temperature
alarms can be an indication that an upgraded climate system is required.
Examples:
• RUW 01 → RUS 01
The configuration changes for this upgrade scenario are shown in Table 6.
Examples:
• RRUS → AIR
• RRUL → RRUS
• RUS, RRUS → RUS, RRUS + Indoor Radio Unit (IRU) + Radio Dot (RD)
The configuration changes for this upgrade scenario are shown in Table 7.
The configuration changes for this upgrade scenario are shown in Table 8.
(1) More radio units, or new radio units with higher output power, can increase the cabinet temperature. Temperature
alarms can be an indication that an upgraded climate system is required.
The configuration changes for this upgrade scenario are shown in Table 9.
Note: In some cases, two radio units can be replaced by one when
upgrading the hardware configuration.
