Abstract
‘Mir Sayyid Ali Hamdani was the greatest Muslim Sufi He
rendered his services for the spread of poaceful message of Islam
in the length and breadth of the valley of Kashmir. Hundreds of
hhis fellow Sayyids accompanied him from Hamdan and other
parts of Iran. Owing to the efforts of Mir Hamdani cultural
relations and contacts established between the people of Kashmir
and Central Asia. Sayyid Ali Hamdani encouraged skilled
artisans, technicians and architects from abroad and fostered new
aris in Kashmir. A number of people embraced Islam at his hand
and thus ke successfully gave a new shape to the religio - cultural
mies of Kashmir.

Sayyid Ali Hamdani would hold discussions and
cebates with the Hindus and Buddhist clergy and
impressed them witn his loge. In this way hundreds
of the Non-Muslims joines his fold and the success
cof his mission can be judged by this fact that within a
few weeks of his arrival seven thousand Buddhists
and indus embraced Islam. (2)
