carbohydrates).
Pedagogy

Activity To begin the lesson the teacher will brainstorm with the class
and ask them all about their favorite foods. The teacher will go
around the room getting answers from different students.
Teacher will then explain the basics of how macronutrients work
and what each does for the body. Then the teacher will set up a
three way venn diagram labeled, proteins, carbs and fats. The
teacher will use this diagram to sort the students favorite foods
to give them an idea of what foods fall under what categories.

After learning about the three different macronutrients the


students will make a short presentation about a macronutrient
of their choice. The student will create this presentation
through the free online resource, Prezi. The student needs to
identify why their macronutrient is important and identify at
least two examples of a healthy and unhealthy food that
contains their macronutrient. The activity will assess their
understanding of the basics of macronutrients and will give the
student a chance to brainstorm and think of foods that contain
their macronutrient.
