 Objective Objetivo
To identify the auxiliaries DO and DOES in Present simple at the
moment of creating a sentence.

I / you / we / they he / she / it
DO and DOES is used as auxiliary in negative (+NOT) and
interrogative sentences which the verb keeps in infinitive
(unconjugated).
-Negative example: I do not (don’t)play soccer in quarantine.
-Interrogative example: Do you play soccer in quarantine?
-Short answers: Yes, I do / No, I do not (don’t)

In present simple, S, ES and ES is added in affirmative sentence, just
in SHE, HE, IT. Be careful with the final consonant of the verb.

In the case of present simple, you have to observe the grammatical structures
based on affirmative (+), negative (-) and interrogative (?).

They They get up at 6 o’clock. They don’t get up at 6 o’clock. Do they get up at 6 o’clock?
She She gets up at 6 o’clock. She doesn’t get up at 6 o’clock. Does she get up at 6 o’clock?
He He gets up at 6 o’clock. He doesn’t get up at 6 o’clock. Does he get up at 6 o’clock?
It It gets up at 6 o’clock. It doesn’t get up at 6 o`clock. Does it get up at 6 o’clock?
In affirmative (+), we have to pay attention to the subject with verb, in which I
have to add an S or ES (depending of consonant from which verb ends). In
negative (-) and interrogative (?), pay attention to the auxiliaries DO (I, you, we,
they) and DOES (she, he, it) and see in the chart, the position of the parts of the
speech in each context (affirmative, negative and interrogative).

Clarification / Aclaración
Esta sección la voy a explicar en español, ya que me es importante aclarar ciertos puntos de acuerdo a la
forma de completar la Guía de Aprendizaje 2.

I. El primer ítem es exclusivamente de vocabulario y hay que clasificar las frases relacionadas con likes
(gustos) y dislikes (disgustos) (8 conceptos).

II. El segundo ítem está hecha en base a la Clase 2 de Inglés 7º básicos. Aquí tienen que completar de
acuerdo cada verbo en paréntesis la forma conjugada del presente simple (en base a la forma
afirmativa, negativa o interrogativa). Nota: Este ejercicio no tiene relación con el primer ítem. Ejemplos:

Afirmativo: 10. Frank __________ (like) dogs. Basado en el contexto, el cual está en afirmativo, deben
recordar en la regla de los afirmativos en presente simple. Como es tercera persona singular (HE -Frank-,
she, it) debo agregar una S al verbo para indicar que es presente simple. El resultado es: 10. Frank likes
dogs.

Negativo: 9. My sister __________ (not read) magazines. Basado en el contexto, el cual está en negativo,
deben recordar la regla de los negativos en presente simple basado en el DO (I, you, we, they) and DOES
(he, SHE -my sister-, it) como es tercera persona singular (he, she, it) debo considerar la tercera persona
singular al DOES, agregando un NOT para negar la oración. El resultado es: 9. My sister does not (doesn’t)
read magazines.

Interrogativo: 14. Why __________ our friends __________ (play) football outside? Basado en el contexto, el
cual está en interrogativo, deben recordar en la regla y estructura de los interrogativos en presente simple.
Estas están basados en el DO (I, you, we, THEY -our Friends-) and DOES (he, she, it). Como es segunda
persona plural (THEY -our friends-) debo considerar en el presente simple interrogativo DO como auxiliar. El
resultado es: 14. Why do our friends play football? No colocar plays en este caso, ya que DO funciona
como auxiliar y el verbo no se conjuga.

III. El tercer ítem, deben responder las preguntas en INGLÉS (no en español, ya que las respuestas en la
lengua madre no sumarán puntaje). Además, las respuestas están insertas explícitamente en parte del
texto (los textos fueron revisados previamente antes de su inserción en la Guía de aprendizaje 2).
