PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

4.1: OVERVIEW
This chapter presents data collected, analysis and interpretation from the field. The data was
collected using instruments like questionnaire, interview guide and documentation, which was
highlighted under the researcher’s methodology. In this chapter, more emphasis has been placed
on the interpretation of raw data in relation to the set objectives and the research question as set
for the study.
4.2 DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

Hargeisa  (Somali: Hargeysa, Arabic: ‫ )هرجيسا‬is a city situated in the Woqooyi Galbeed region of

the self-declared but internationally unrecognized Republic of Somaliland in the Horn of Africa.
It is the capital and largest city of Somaliland.
During the middle Ages, Hargeisa was part of the domain of the Adal Sultanate. The city later
succeeded Barbara as the capital of the British Somaliland protectorate in 1941. In 1960, the
protectorate gained independence and united as scheduled days later with the Trust Territory of
Somaliland (the former Italian Somaliland) to form the Somali Republic (Somalia) on July 1.
Hargeisa is situated in a valley in the Galgodon (Ogo) highlands, and sits at an elevation of
1,334 m (4,377 ft). Home to rock art from the Neolithic period, the city is also a commercial hub
for precious stone-cutting, construction, retail services and trading, among other activities.

PROFILE OF RESPONDENTS
The researcher prepared questionnaires and interview guide appropriate for this study. The
questionnaires were administered using both personal administrations with on the spot collection
where the researcher delivered the questionnaire in person and waited for the respondents to fill
them then went back with them. Personal administration with collection after time was employed
to give the respondents amble time to answer the questionnaire and consult other resource
material and other documents.
The researcher distributed 50 questionnaires to household mothers in Hargeisa Group Hospital.
All the questionnaires were completed and returned back. This means that questionnaires which
have been completed represented a good response rate which was considered ample for the
objectives of the study
GENDER OF RESPONDENTS
The researcher was interested in ensuring gender particularly female only in his research; this
meant the researcher to find out the number of household mothers or female respondents.
