Indicates that abnormalities occurred during analysis.
(➤P.8 “1.2 Analysis error code list”)

Trouble message
Indicates that abnormalities of functions occurred regardless of whether or not its during analysis. When an
analysis is being performed, the analysis stops immediately.
(➤P.12 “1.3 Trouble messages and remedial actions”)

Warning message
Indicates that analysis cannot start or continue due to the lack of test strip or washing solution, or that analysis
results could not be output to external media or the host computer.

1.3 Trouble messages and remedial actions

When an error occurs on the functions of the instrument, a trouble message is displayed and analysis is stopped.
When an error occurs, record the message and store the printed information from the built-in printer.
If a similar error occurs after resolving the initial error and restarting the instrument, please give the message and
printed information from the built-in printer to your local Sysmex service representative.

Note:
Trouble message will be output to the built-in printer during abnormalities even if [REAL-TIME OUTPUT] is
set to [NO] on the [INT.PRINTER PARAMETER] screen.

1.5 Causes of errors and remedial actions

Refer to the causes and actions below and take appropriate action.
Take the remedial action in order from case 1 if there are multiple possible causes.
If you cannot solve the problem after the remedial actions, or encounter troubles not listed here, contact your local
Sysmex service representative.

Risk of infection
• Be sure to wear adequate personal protective equipment, such as protective gloves, a protective mask,
protective eyewear, and a lab coat when taking remedial actions for errors. Wash your hands with
antiseptic solution after completing the task.
There is a risk of infection by pathogens or other contaminants.
• Take appropriate care in handling samples. In the event that an infectious material gets in the eyes or an
open wound, rinse with large amounts of water and seek immediate medical attention.

1.6 Remedial actions against U-RDU failure

Even when it is impossible to deliver washing solution to the instrument due to U-RDU failure, you can still use the
instrument by switching the washing solution tube connection to directly deliver the washing solution to the
instrument. Refer to the procedure below and take appropriate action.
Note that this section describes the procedure for when a maximum of 6 instruments and a maximum of 4 washing
solution bottles are connected to the U-RDU. Perform the relevant procedure according to your environment.

1.6.1 Preparing for switching the washing solution tube connections

Prepare the following items before switching tube connections.
• Protective gloves
• Paper or cloth to wipe washing solution
• Washing solution bottle for UC-3500 and dispensing set

At the time of U-RDU installation, we provide you with a set of parts to be used in the event of a U-RDU failure.
Prepare sufficient wiring cord for the number of instruments connected to the U-RDU.
If you are connecting 6 instruments, prepare 6 changeover wiring cords.

1 Wear protective gloves.

2 Turn OFF the power to the UC-3500 main

unit and unplug the power cable from
the instrument.

3 Turn OFF the power to the U-RDU and

unplug the power cable from the U-RDU.

4 Spread paper or a cloth on the floor

behind the back of the U-RDU.
Spread paper or a cloth on the floor behind the back of
the U-RDU in case leakage occurs while you are
working.

1.6.2 Closing the washing solution tubes on the U-RDU side

Use the roller clamp to close the washing tubes.

1 Close all roller clamps on the washing solution tubes of “ANALYZER 1” to

“ANALYZER 6” and “REAG #1” to “REAG #4” at the back of the U-RDU.

Note:
To open/close the reagent tube, roll the wheel on the roller clamp.

Chapter 2 Maintenance

This chapter explains an overview of instrument maintenance and those procedures, replacing and
replenishing supplies, and checking the operation of this instrument.

2.1 List of maintenance tasks

Regular maintenance is necessary to keep the instrument in the most optimal condition. When the instrument is in
continuous use, perform “Daily maintenance” once every 24 hours.
Perform the maintenance on the instrument according to the following schedule. Record the performed maintenance
tasks on the instrument using the maintenance checklist. (➤P.53 “2.19 Maintenance inspection checklist”)

Risk of infection
Be sure to wear adequate personal protective equipment, such as protective gloves, a protective mask,
protective eyewear, and a lab coat when working. Wash your hands with antiseptic solution after
completing the task.
There is a risk of infection by pathogens or other contaminants.
