The Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl epitomizes the very best that collegiate athletics have to offer, and it is my pleasure to wish
the best of luck to both teams. The players’ determination, scholarship and competitive spirit serve as an inspiration to
all -- particularly our island keiki. In addition to their considerable physical talents, the athletes on the field have also
achieved the important milestones of successful high school completion and university attendance. It is my hope that
every child in attendance, and throughout Hawai`i, continues to strive towards these critically important goals.
Let me also thank Sheraton Hotels & Resorts Hawai`i for sponsoring this outstanding event. Sheraton Hawai`i is a
leading member of the Hawai`i business community, whose exceptional resorts greet thousands of visitors annually. We
look forward to collaborating with Sheraton Hawai`i in the future and appreciate their contribution to the islands.
Finally, we would like to especially welcome the visiting players, coaches, their families, as well as all the fans in
attendance, visitor and kama’aina alike. As our residents already know, Hawai`i is a truly amazing place, rich in both
natural and human treasures. Please accept my invitation to explore our pristine beaches, savor our eclectic culinary
offerings, and bask in the warmth of that legendary spirit of aloha for which our people are known the world over.

Governor, State of Hawai`i
The winning combination of an exciting football game, holiday cheer and the beauty of Hawaii
distinguishes the Hawaii Bowl from other post-season games. The highly anticipated match-up between
the University of Hawaii and the University of Tulsa promises an epic battle between two excellent teams
on the gridiron.

Aloha!
The University of Hawai‘i is thrilled to once again be a part of what has become a Holiday Tradition on
the islands, the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl.
On behalf of everyone at UH, especially the Athletics Department and the Warrior Football Team, I would
like to express our appreciation and warm mahalo to the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl, its executive committee,
and ESPN for the opportunity to participate in this outstanding event.
In addition, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our opponent, The University of Tulsa, on
an outstanding season and for capturing a share of Conference USA’s West Division title. To finish the
regular season with six consecutive wins, including a big win at Notre Dame, and to earn a bowl berth for
the third time in the last four years is something their fans should really be proud of.
Likewise, I’m incredibly proud of our players and coaches, who have attained a 10-3 record and captured
a share of the WAC Championship. This title is especially rewarding considering the fact that we were
picked to finish fifth by the WAC football coaches and seventh by the WAC media prior to the season.
Both teams are very fortunate to be playing in the Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl, which has established a
reputation for thrilling action on the field and unparalleled hospitality off the field. The events leading up
to the game are some of the most spectacular of all NCAA postseason bowls and are truly geared toward
rewarding the student-athletes for a job well done during the regular season.
Please enjoy the game and mahalo for supporting the Hawai`i football team during the 2010 regular
season and now in today’s Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl.
