Teaching aims To encourage Ss to improvise a precise situation


To familiarize Ss with the idea of speaking after
introducing a range of advanced vocabulary

Learning aims To prove reading comprehension of a text


To express opinion

Assumptions Ss are already used to expressing opinions on a certain


topic

Anticipated problems Some students can be stuck in an unproductive stage


Some students are shy and sometimes they feel
embarrassed when they are asked to play a role

Classroom management Classroom equipped with movable desks according to


the lesson activities which provide the necessary
physical environment for working in groups. Light and
pictures displayed on the walls create the comfortable
atmosphere which is an important thing especially in
“role-play” requiring creativity and interpretation.

Attending strategies Teacher’s role: conductor that is to establish contexts,


give instructions and monitor.
Teacher’s attitude: moves round the class, keeps
eye-contact, but she also encourages Ss to speak and
listen to each other using gestures and facial expression.
If a student is speaking too quietly, T walks further
away forcing, in this way, the quiet speaker to speak
louder and makes positive remarks. T does not interrupt
a student while speaking to correct mistakes

Description of the activity: T asks Ss to remember the best and the worst holiday they have
ever had. Ss are asked to express opinions on what makes a good traveler, to discuss travel-
related issues

Timing: 20 minutes
Description of the activity: 1)T asks Ss to silently read a text which is devided into five
paragraphs and then Ss are asked to say whether they have understood the gist of the textx

Description of the activity: Ss are supposed to answer a set of questions related to each
paragraph in order to prove reading comprehension
