SUBJECT: TIME MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENT

Finding out your weak spots and attempting to strengthen them is something everybody must go through in their life
in order to be a better person in their career field. Everybody needs to find ways to increase proficiency in the most
critical skills in relation to their future profession, and time management is an important skill with many careers,
especially nursing. Time management aids in achieving all your daily tasks with enough time to focus completely on
each without the stress of the hectic to-do list. Additionally, time management helps improve mental health. The
benefits of managing one’s time are well worth the steps.

Time Management Steps

Not only is time management critical in the performance of an employee, it has also shown to improve the mental
health of one.  Studies have shown an important relationship between time management habits, depression, and
anxiety tendencies. There are some valuable tips to consider from the Forbes website:

Create a time audit— The first and most important step is to find out what you do throughout your day. Realizing that
you spend most of your time doing something such as watching stories on snapchat, may be shocking but it is the first
step into changing your bad habit.

Plan— The second step is to plan ahead what you will do the following day. The night before organize your work
space and make a prioritized to-do list, putting the most urgent matter at the top.

Begin the day early— The third step is to start the day early, this will give you a chance to get the most pressing
things out the way for the day and since it is following the second step, you will have your prioritized to-do list for the
day ready to begin.

Use a calendar— The fourth step is to mark down future events and important tasks that are ahead. Make sure you
constantly look at this specific calendar. This step is important for bigger events that require several adjustments in
comparison to your regular every day.
After following all steps, one is expected to be able to manage their time better with less stress and over time see a
difference in mental health which will ultimately increase proficiency in my future profession. Questions to ask every
day would be, do I feel accomplished with the tasks I completed today? Did I complete everything I had planned the
night before? In a rate of 1-5, 1 being no stress and 5 being stressful, how stressed did I feel when completing all the
tasks I had for today?

I will gladly consider new steps to add into the ways to improve one’s time management.
