herb form the mint, or Lamiaceae family. It has been used in medicine and cooking for
thousands of years. It adds flavor, and it may have a number of health benefits.
Many are still not well informed about the far-reaching benefits of oregano extract including
its repellency nature. Many research and studies have been able to conveniently establish
science based claims on how oregano oil can be an effective oil repellent.

Oregano as insect repellent

Since oregano can be turned into an oil, there are many other factors that oregano can be
used for.  Oregano oil can be used as natural insect repellent. Due to the smell that oregano
has, insects will not get near. Oil of oregano contains many compounds, and one of them is
carvacrol. This compound is also found in plants like mint and thyme. Try putting a few drops of
oil on outdoor furniture test first on an inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn't stain. (Oil of

How does oreganos can repel insect?

Oregano oil can be used as a natural insect repellent due to the compounds called carvacrol,
thymol and p-cymeme found in oregano. The study concluded oregano oil concentration and
time were the most important variable in controlling both insect and species. There has been a
remarkable switch from using insecticides that are toxic to humans and which goes a long way
to pollute our environment to an alternative of essentials oils produced from plants which are
natural and pose no threat to our society and our wellbeing.

in our environment. Our hypothesis was that extracting oregano as insect repellent would have a
positive outcome because of its smell that oregano has (carvacol, thymol and p-cymeme)
