Job Description

The role will suit a confident, team-orientated individual with proven ability to meet
challenging deadlines within a dynamic environment. Experience with environmental data
is an advantage but we will accept applications from other fields of science as long as the
applicant can demonstrate their knowledge in geospatial information and data analytics.

The successful candidate will contribute to projects within the agriculture, water, forestry,
energy, pollution and climate. Specific tasks include but are not limited to:

 Sourcing and pre-processing satellite, aerial and vector datasets

 Spectral analysis and modelling of optical and radar datasets using both open source
and proprietary algorithms
 Applied automation scripts to EO datasets using R, Python and IDL

 Data Collection, analysing (non-spatial and spatial) data, Compiling Excel

Spreadsheets, coding and re-coding data and using MATLAB.
 Imagery Change Detection, Feature Extraction, View Shed Analysis, Cost-Distance
Analysis, Travel-time Analysis and advanced multi-criteria analyses using complex
arrays of data inputs.
 Processing, editing and manipulation of Geospatial imagery and derived classification
products.


Job Requirements

 Must be proficient in GIS/ Remote Sensing Software such as;

o Erdas Imagine
o ArcGIS
o ENVI
o GRASS
o Remote View Pro. 4
o GD GIS/Remote Sensing
o Programming skills in R, Python and JavaScript
 BSc or MSc in Remote Sensing, Geo-informatics, Computer Science, Statistics 
would be added advantage


Educational/Professional Qualification

 B.Sc/HND (Undergraduates) in either Remote Sensing, Geo-informatics, Computer

Science, Statistics, Geography, Land Survey or other Environmental Science courses.
 Cognate experience in the subject discipline will be an added advantage.
 Data management certificate.
 Imagery analysis and interpretation certificate.
 ESRI, USGIF Certification and other related certificates.
