Kate Chopin (1850-1904) was an American author of short stories and novels based in Louisiana.

She is

considered one of the leading feminist writers of the 20th-century. “A Respectable Woman” begins with

a married woman’s disappointment over the visit of her husband’s friend. As you read, take notes on

how Mrs. Baroda’s feelings develop over the course of the text.
