2. Deductive Method
• Starts with a rule (general) that is applied to specific cases (specific).
Steps:
A. Statement of the problem: Problem should be stimulating and should arouse the desire to solve it. This must be related to life situation
and within the ability and maturity of the learner.
-The lesson starts with a problem presented to the class.
B. Generalization: Two or more generalizations, rules, definitions or principles must be recalled that serve as the solutions to the problem.
-The general rule/ principle/ definition is presented as a way to solve the problem.
C. Inference: Choosing the generalization, rule, definition or principle that will fit the problem. This may be in a form of trial an error that
one arrives at the right conclusion. Application to a few cases may be necessary.
-Trying out of the general principle is applied.
D. Verification: Trying out and securing the successful generalization. Determining the validity of the inference by consulting accepted
authorities. Emerging conclusion after verification becomes accurate knowledge. Application of the lesson in real life.
-Verifying if the generalization works and applying it to another case.
