HOW to Replace the Viscosity Sensor

1. Open by-pass valve (1) on the ViscoBlock, close the inlet valve (2), the outlet valve (3) and release
the pressure inside the ViscoBlock through the threaded socket (4) with the flexible pipe (5)
delivered with the FCM module.

4. Disconnect wires from the terminals and remove the cable (if also the board must be replaced go to
Appendix 1).

5. Install the new Viscosity Sensor supplied with cable.

6. Insert carefully the Viscosity Sensor in the ViscoBlock.

NOTE: The hole on the Viscosity Sensor tube must face upward! Be sure that the slot (7) on the
flange of the ViscoBlock matches the pin (8) on the Viscosity Sensor.

HOW to Clean the Sensor

When removing the sensor from the piping system precautions must be taken to prevent personal injuries
and damage to the sensor and proces installation

General procedure

1. Open by-pass valve (1) on the ViscoBlock, close the inlet valve (2), the outlet valve (3) and release
the pressure inside the ViscoBlock through the threaded socket (4) with the flexible pipe (5)
delivered with the FCM module.

2. Change the heater control from Viscosity to Temperature mode

3. Switch off power supply to the viscosity sensor board
4. Drain the oil inside the ViscoBlock through the plug (6) on the back side of the block.

(6) DRAIN PLUG

5. Loosen and remove the protection of the Viscosity Sensor (on the old models), loosen the tightening
bolt and remove the Viscosity Sensor from the block (Dismantling of the flange is not necessary).

6. Do not remove the flow tube, do not stick anu object in the between the flow tube abd pendulum.
7. Flush the space between the tube and the pendulum with diesel oil or non aggressive cleaning
detergent
8. Take care that the pendulum is not damaged or the torsion tube bent by mechanical force
9. NEVER use abrasive materials like sandpaper to clean the flow tube. This will damage the Teflon
coating beyond repair.
10. Re-install the Sensor
11. Open the ball valve before and after the sensor and close the by pass
12. Change the heater control from Temperature to Viscosity mode.
