Enlistment as Cadet Officer (Graduates)
Mauritius Police Force

Applications are invited from qualified candidates who wish to be considered for enlistment as
Cadet Officer (Graduates) in the Mauritius Police Force.

II. AGE LIMIT

Candidates should have reached their 22nd birthday and should not have reached their 30th
birthday by the closing date for the submission of applications.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

A. Candidates should possess the Cambridge Higher School Certificate or passes in at


least two subjects obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education
“Advanced Level” together with a degree from a recognised institution in one of the
following :–

I. For the Police/Special Mobile Force


(i) Civil Engineering
(ii) Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or Electrical and
Electronic Engineering
(iii) Telecommunications Engineering or Electronic and Communication
Engineering
(iv) Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or Automobile
Engineering
(v) Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Information Systems or
Information Technology or a degree, the major part of which should be
Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Information Systems or
Information Technology
(vi) Forensic Science
(vii) Accounting
(viii) Law
(ix) English or French or Journalism

II. For the National Coast Guard


(i) Technical Branch (Mechanical)
Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or Aeronautical
Engineering

Electrical Engineering or Electronic and Communication Engineering or

III. For the Police Helicopter Squadron


(i) Flying Branch
(a) Mathematics or Physics or Aeronautical Engineering or
Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering;
and
(b) have 6/6 eyesight in both eyes without glasses or contact
lenses
(ii) Technical Branch (Mechanical)
Aeronautical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
Engineering
(iii) Technical Branch (Electrical/Electronic)
Aeronautical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Electronic
Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering
OR
Equivalent qualifications to the above acceptable to the Disciplined Forces Service
Commission.

B. have a good physique and be able to undergo strenuous physical exercise. They should
have a normal eyesight (without glasses or contact lenses) except for candidates for the
Police Helicopter Squadron (Flying Branch) who should have 6/6 eyesight in both eyes
without glasses or contact lenses

C. Candidates should satisfy the following minimum physical requirements -

For Male Candidates


Height : 1 m 70
Chest measurement : 84 cm (normal inspiration)
For Female Candidates
Height : 1 m 63

D. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills and be
computer literate.

NOTE 1
1. Qualification for Cambridge Higher School Certificate or General Certificate of
Education “Advanced Level” under A above should have been obtained prior to
qualification at degree level specified at A I, A II and A III above.
2. Candidates should produce written evidence of knowledge claimed.

NOTE 2
1. Selected candidates will be required to undergo appropriate medical tests to be arranged by
the Police Department.

2. Candidates enlisted for the Police Helicopter Squadron (Flying Branch) will, within a period
of three months of their date of enlistment, be required to undergo an examination so as to
determine their medical fitness and aptitude for flying. In case they are found medically
unfit or do not reach the required standard in the aptitude test for flying, their enlistment as
Cadet Officer will be terminated forthwith.

IV. TRAINING

Selected candidates will be required to undergo training in their appropriate fields which may
include programmes locally or abroad for a period of at least two years, as approved and
arranged by the Police Department, leading to an appropriate certificate or licence, where
applicable.

On successful completion of such training and on obtention of the appropriate certificate or


licence, where applicable, Cadet Officers will be eligible for appointment to the grade of
Deputy Assistant Superintendent of Police or Woman Police Deputy Assistant Superintendent,
as and when vacancies occur.

V. ALLOWANCE

During the period of training the selected candidates will draw an allowance in the scale
Rs 21,950 x 625 – 23,200 x 775 – 27,075 a month.

On successful completion of their training, Cadet Officers will be eligible for appointment to
the grade of Deputy Assistant Superintendent of Police or Woman Police Deputy Assistant
Superintendent in the salary scale Rs 30,950 x 775 – 32,500 x 925 – 37,125 x 1,225 – 40,800 x
1,525 – 48,425 a month.

VI. BONDING

Selected candidates who are sent on training whether abroad or locally will be required to enter
into a bond and after completion of the said training they will immediately resume duty and
remain in the service of the Mauritius Police Force for a period of 3 to 7 years as appropriate
from the date of substantive appointment as Deputy Assistant Superintendent of Police or
Woman Police Deputy Assistant Superintendent.

VII. MODE OF APPLICATION

1 Qualified candidates are advised to submit their application electronically at the

Forces Service Commission, 7, Louis Pasteur Street, Forest Side from 9.00 a.m. to 3.30
p.m. on weekdays and not later than 3.00 p.m. on the closing date.

3. Candidates are requested to follow the procedures that can be accessed through “How
to Apply” option on the above address.

4. Candidates already in the service should also submit a printed copy of their electronic
Application Form, duly signed, through their respective Supervising
Officer/Responsible Officer.

5. Acknowledgement of applications will be made by e-mail. Candidates are advised to


submit their e-mail address.

8. Candidates are also advised to read carefully the “NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR
ONLINE APPLICATION (in response to Public Advertisement)” before filling in the
Application Form. Care should be taken to fill in the on-line Application Form
correctly. Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the application form
may entail elimination of the candidate.

9. The Commission reiterates its request to candidates to submit their application


electronically. However, qualified candidates not applying online may submit their
application on DFSC Form 7 which may be obtained either from the Enquiry Counter
of the Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms, Ground Floor, Emmanuel
Anquetil Building, Port Louis or from the Enquiry Counter of the Disciplined Forces
Service Commission, 7, Louis Pasteur Street, Forest Side or from the Chief
Commissioner’s Office, Port Mathurin, Rodrigues or from the offices of the Mauritius
High Commissions/Embassies overseas.

VIII. CLOSING DATE
